Re: strange happenings after installing 2.21

After I upgraded from 2.20 to 2.21 two major changes occurred, as follows:

SeaMonkey 2.20 was not noted as being uninstalled. I had to go back and
uninstall 2.20 from add/remove.

2.21 now starts from the following location:
C:\Users\rff\AppData\Local\SeaMonkey\seamonkey.exe. There is NOTHING in
the program files folder except for a plugins folder with plugins in it.

The installation of 2.21 was the normal overinstall, like we've all done
dozens of times. I can't believe this is by design, but I'd like someone
to verify that. btw, the browser seems to work normally and the settings
and customizations from 2.20 were carried forward successfully.

Roger, when you type The installation of 2.21 was the normal
overinstall, do you mean that you did an update to go from 2.20 to 2.21??

If so, the that files of your 2.20 install were modified as required to
become 2.21, but in the same location as 2.20, so when you thought you
were uninstalling 2.20, you were actually uninstalling 2.21.

Yes, right click on the attchment and then click 'delete'.
Would be easier to start by clicking on 'File' and then 'Send Link' to
send the link.

'Send Link' should also be on the menu when you do a right click on the
page, but it's not. Developers take note.

Add Securiy Exception

2013-09-20 Thread Cecil Bankston
Recently, every time SeaMonkey starts to download my new Gmail messages
it shows an Add Security Exception message indicating an invalid
certificate, which I have to click to continue. The details show that
it appears to be related to my Avast antivirus checking the SSL secured
messages. I leave Permanently store this exception checked, but that
seems to have no effect, as the message still pops up each time mail is
checked. Is there any way to ensure that Seamonkey actually does store
the exception?

Well, I meant by default. Don't include the attachment.

An extra step. Heh.

Too bad there is no hotkey for send link/send this page.

Does Ask To Activate plug-in have a whitelist option?

2013-09-20 Thread Ant

Hello.

On some web sites, I do want specific plug-in (e.g., Flash) to activate
without my prompt. Does it exist? I do not see it. I like how old
Flashblock extension/addon have that option.

Thank you in advance. :)

The best solution is to install the Avast root certificate in Seamonkey.
The installation is automatic for Thunderbird and clients that rely on
the Windows root certificate store (e.g. Outlook), but not for Seamonkey.

The procedure is outlined here (for Thunderbird, but it can easily be
adapted to Seamonkey):

https://feedback.avast.com/responses/mail-shield-related-ssl-eror-unable-to-get-local-issuer-certificate

But, in a nutshell, you have to export the Avast certificate from the
Windows certificate manager and import it to Seamonkey.

Thanks. Importing the certificate stopped the annoying popup message.
I still wonder whether the lack of response to checking the Permanently
store this exception box is a bug.

I was complaining about Firefox, not SeaMonkey. I just do not want to
see SeaMonkey handling click-to-play the way Firefox now is doing it.

I did have a problem with click-to-play not working with some older
themes in SM 2.21 and fixed it by patching them using material from new
themes. It seems a bit strange that one site where I had to do more
patching to themes to get the click-to-play and the webcam feed to work
at all now works with the added themes, but not with the default themes!

Does anybody know what the width of scrollbars has to do with the
function of plugins click-to-play? A certain website would not even
show the icon for click-to-play if the scrollbar was thicker than 15px.
What does that have to do with plugin function?

Windows taskbar

Since the latest upgrade Seamonkey now supports the Win7 taskbar properly (ie
it now has the grouping ability for it's own tabs), which is a shame as it
sucks. I don't want to have to click on the taskbar shortcut then choose a tab
as the tab I want is usually the one I was looking at when I minimised the

Right-click on empty space in the taskbar and select properties from the

Right-click on empty space in the taskbar and select properties from the

It's also worth noting that you don't need to click to open an app's
grouping. Just hover over the button for a moment and the grouping will
