Thanks, I had a quick look at NoScript, but it says it's only for
Firefox, not SeaMonkey?

You need the 'Classic' version 5.1.9, not the 'Quantum' version that
only works with newer vandalised FF versions. This is explained at
, though not on the home page, so you just
had to be a bit more persistent.

When I opened a browser without NoScript I couldn't believe the rubbish
I was being shown.

It turned out that the profile was corrupted to cause additional
problems. I restored the profile from a backup, but these two problems
persist.

In my profile, what file (or files) might be corrupted to cause these
two problems? Would I be able to replace those files from a profile
that does not appear corrupted?

Or is the problem something in the SeaMonkey root? If so, what file (or
files) should I try to restore from a backup?

Duracell batteries are prohibited in my house.
They leak and have severely damaged some expensive
electronics that I own. Energizer and Eveready
batteries are okay.

Do you have View > Sort by > Date, Threaded and Descending?

Order Received, Threaded, Ascending

If you do, then SM mail looks like an ongoing conversation.

Ray

Which has worked for me for so long!! Oh!! Well!!

Did you look at the pic I linked?

Descending puts the current thread at the top of the window where it
is visible when the folder opens.

Try it my way and see if your posts are in the tree.

Ray

Sprung!! No, I hadn't, Ray, but now I have and that look like how my
Threads Pane might have looked except my Threads Pane does not show
MY OP. My Threads Pane starts with YOUR message Dated 1/8/2020 9:47 PM
(adjusted for different Time Zone to be 9/01/2020 4:47 PM in my SM, i.e.
19 hrs difference. So, I'm Guessing you're Western U.S.)

No, changing to Descending, as you suggest, puts the oldest active
*THREAD* at the bottom of the Pane, but the order in which the posts
with-in a Thread didn't actually change (and MY OP is still not showing
;-P )

However, I've left it as "Descending" so will see if things change when
I log back in in about six hours!

No change, My OP still not showing!

Back to "Ascending".

O.K., but my C for (See) makes sense . to me, at least!

Fair enough, but the abbreviation with S for See is traditional.

The computer typesetting pioneer John W Seybold is said to have adopted
the phrase from a catchphrase in 'The Flip Wilson Show' (aired 1970-4),
where the gag was that Wilson delivered it in drag. By 1981 the
abbreviation WYSIWIG was well enough established to be used in
advertising copy.
