Re: Back to 2.14.....
I agree with you that 2.2 is a mess on several points. It seems like it is more like IE than even Firefox. Here is my question: Did you have any install problems going back to 2.1? I am hesitant to just run the install file and hope it removes 2.2, as there have been past glitches in the history of Mozilla/Seamonkey when it comes to up/downgrading. Things I dislike about 2.2: Password manager is less functional, the Find function opens a new toolbar, rather than the old floating one that did not cause your page to shift down, the query whether to remember passwords is awkward, 2.2 now automatically runs a Javascript on a site I use frequently that was optional on 2.1 (it messes up the formatting of text input), Composer does not display images correctly during HTML editing, lots of little things that are just awkward or less functional. Although 2.2 is probably more secure, and handles HTML better, its usability is definitely lower. I also get the impression (no data) that it runs slower. I have been a loyal user since the first Netscape, and hate to see Seamonkey become homogenized just like the other guys. That's what Firefox (yuck!) is for. Input is appreciated on the mechanism for rolling back to 2.1. Thanks! ___ support-seamonkey mailing list support-seamonkey@lists.mozilla.org https://lists.mozilla.org/listinfo/support-seamonkey
Re: Separate post: please help, I want to go back to an earlier version of SM
Anyone else have any experience with this? Losing my browsing history is no big deal. Having to reconstruct my passwords file is a very big deal. Love the Philip Taylor sig, but I have to disagree with dsavitsk on the 4x3 screens. Widescreen is much better IMHO. There are a lot of old guys here, it seems, and I am one of them! Philip Taylor. who understands the the world must move on philosophy, but who nonetheless finds Windows/XP, Classic View, Office 2003 and so on infinitely more user friendly than any of the more recent developments). And 4x3 screens on laptops! ___ support-seamonkey mailing list support-seamonkey@lists.mozilla.org https://lists.mozilla.org/listinfo/support-seamonkey
Re: [Linux] Updating 2.0.14 to 2.2 a disaster for the bookmarks.
I thought I, too, had lost my bookmarks, since they did not appear when I hit F9. However, they were just folded up. Click the + on the Bookmarks Menu and they are probably there. Custom icons will reload when you visit the sites. If you don't find them folded up, they will be at C:\Documents and Settings\Username\Application Data\Mozilla\Profiles\default\randomfilename.slt\bookmarks.html If they are not there, they may be lost. 20 MB is too big for a bookmarks file. Even with my hundreds, it is only ~300 KB. The places.sqlite files are history files. ___ support-seamonkey mailing list support-seamonkey@lists.mozilla.org https://lists.mozilla.org/listinfo/support-seamonkey
Re: Back to 2.14.....
You can now list only one domain at a time, whereas you could list all of your passwords together before, listing them by login name, password, or domain. That is gone now. You can still search, but you can only search for a specific domain. It is simply more awkward and less flexible. Both bad things. ___ support-seamonkey mailing list support-seamonkey@lists.mozilla.org https://lists.mozilla.org/listinfo/support-seamonkey
Re: S.M. 2.2 defects (e.g., in Mail)
Agree that Seamonkey 2.2 has NOT been a good step up. Multiple problems with email and don't care for the interface. For the first time, Chrome is looking better to me, but I love the integrated browser, email and composer functions. Here is the question: How can one downgrade back down to 2.1? I cannot find the answer in the MozillaZine KB or anywhere else. I am hesitant to just run the install-- something very bad could happen. Input??? ___ support-seamonkey mailing list support-seamonkey@lists.mozilla.org https://lists.mozilla.org/listinfo/support-seamonkey
Re: S.M. 2.2 defects (e.g., in Mail)
It's not a problem finding the install file. It's just not clear whether running the install file will install 2.1 in place of 2.2, or if there will be issues with transferring all the preferences, passwords, etc. to the new install of 2.1. Anyone have any experience with whether it is OK to just run the install of the older version? Gracias. ___ support-seamonkey mailing list support-seamonkey@lists.mozilla.org https://lists.mozilla.org/listinfo/support-seamonkey
