Have you filed a bug report? For Thunderbird, the plan is to provide some sort of notification when you first use the archive shortcut. See https://bug511741.bugzilla.mozilla.org/attachment.cgi?id=528851 I assume that would be adopted by SeaMonkey. But I'm just assuming. However, that isn't because Shift-A is considered a common keystroke. It's because the shortcut in Thunderbird and Mac versions of SeaMonkey is just A. And /that/ is too easy to hit unintentionally. :) When it was implemented in SeaMonkey, Shift-A was chosen instead, but for some reason, the Mac version was kept at A. Oh, I'm using SM v.2.5. keith ___ support-seamonkey mailing list support-seamonkey@lists.mozilla.org https://lists.mozilla.org/listinfo/support-seamonkey

I know very little about Mac (we have Stefan for that :-P), but I was pretty sure we use Shift+A on all platforms. When the TB guys were still in the implementation phase of the initial feature support, I noticed the bad shortcut choice and added Shift for us. I thought the problem was was obvious (and even left a comment for them), but they went with plain A anyway. Well, their choice. No need to repeat (or port) mistakes. I see that all my accounts are set to create archives, which is disturbing because I used to have folders by that name, with contents, and they're gone! That sounds like a critical bug. Have you filed a bug report? Not yet, for several reasons: 1) I recently had a computer crash (thought it was bad RAM, turned out to be a bad motherboard), so some files that I thought were backed up turned out to be corrupted. I've been gradually going through older and older versions to recover what I can, which brings me to: 2) I didn't have my folder structure memorized, so I can't be absolutely sure off the top of my head what's missing and what's intact and what's just my approaching senility. If I file a bug, I want to be sure to speak accurately; I don't want to guess or fudge and waste someone's time. 3) I've never filed a bug before, so there'll be a learning curve, and right now I'm focused on learning Windows 7 (not the same as WinXP) and meeting deadlines. The new machine is way faster, but not everything is where I left it, and not everything works the same way. Still, I brought the issue up in case others have experienced it and have a better handle on it. -- War doesn't determine who's right, just who's left. -- Paul B.
