Antivirus protection is active. http://www.avast.com Mort, I think if you point to the un0desired URL and right click, one of the options should be to delete. Also you might get more attention to your problem if you select Compose rather than replying to some thread and then deleting the former message and subject!! Hi Daniel, Thanks for your helpful post. 1) When I right click on the item that I desire to delete, the dropdown menu does not include delete. I'm sure it did, but, maybe, with the move to places.sqlite files, this function was lost!! 2) My Windows XP setup has some sort of operating bug. When I attempt to compose a new question to a newsgroup, I get an onscreen message that my software does not reply to newsgroups, only to e-mails. I therefore have no choice but to reply to a posted item on that group, and then delete the unwanted portion. I do not do this to frustrate you, but simply because I have no other choice. Mort, are you posting/replying directly to the news group or are you posting/replying via the SeaMonkey list server thingee?? 3) Inasmuch as right-clicking does not lead to a delete icon, how then do I in fact delete unwanted items? If this problem is because of the move to the places.sqlite file type (as I mentioned above), you would have to download/install an SQL editor, which is above my head!! Thanks again for your current and previous helpful replies, which I really do appreciate. Regards, Mort Linder --- This email is free from viruses and malware because avast! This only works if one is not completely married to the mouse. You're right, I can select items on the location bar history with the up/down arrow keys. Having done so, the Del key has no effect. Mouseover has no effect (is that what you mean by mouse without click?), and spinning the wheel in either direction has two results: a) with the list expanded after an up/down arrow, it closes the list; b) with the list hidden, it has no effect. A mouse click actually consists of two events: a downpress and a release. If I click and hold (downpress only), nothing happens, and if I drag (hold the left mouse button down and move the cursor) within the list, nothing happens; if I drag outside the list the selection is released without effect. The moment I release the left mouse button (as long as the cursor is within the list), the browser loads that page; if I release outside the list nothing happens (the list remains visible, but as noted above the selection is released when I drag outside the list). What happens if you select (highlight) the unwanted item and press your Delete key? Well, of course, you know if you select an item from the location bar history, the browser loads that page. Yes, that is why I clarified by writing (highlight) above. In that case, what are the specific keyboard/mouse actions you have in mind? I usually use the Up/DownArrow keys when I want to select (highlight) an item in the history dropdown. But mouse-without-click and mousewheel also highlights items prior to action. This only works if one is not completely married to the mouse. The moment I release a click, the browser loads the page, so do you mean to mouse over without clicking? If I do that, nothing is selected, and Del has no effect. By the same token, I cannot click and drag to select part of a URL. No, you would need to actually *execute a click* on the entry as the initial piece of a click-and-drag. Like Mort, I have no delete option there, either. I can either clear the entire location bar history or not clear any of it. The keyboard Delete key will be present. See above. The key is still present on the keyboard. :-) and if it worked we wouldn't have this TWELVE year old bug: https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=87098 GW As usual ..developpers don't care about bugs .. they prefer to play on pseudo enhancements :-) ___ support-seamonkey mailing list support-seamonkey@lists.mozilla.org https://lists.mozilla.org/listinfo/support-seamonkey

Also you might get more attention to your problem if you select Compose rather than replying to some thread and then deleting the former message and subject!! Hi Daniel, Thanks for your helpful post. 1) When I right click on the item that I desire to delete, the dropdown menu does not include delete. 3) Inasmuch as right-clicking does not lead to a delete icon, how then do I in fact delete unwanted items? Thanks again for your current and previous helpful replies, which I really do appreciate. Regards, Mort Linder --- This email is free from viruses and malware because avast!
