Debian does its internal updates completely seperate from our process,
though usually same day or within a few days of our official release.

I downloaded and installed Mozilla's .tar.bz package from 
http://www.seamonkey-project.org/ back in end of 2011. Anyways, I just 
got the v2.8 update through its updater finally. :)

Not any more. And no, it has been released way less than a day after 
Firefox 11 - but Firefox 11 went out late in the day yesterday as well.


Not sure by what account you said almost a day later as that's

Not unusually late, no. Seamonkey (and Thunderbird, for that matter)
tend to get officially released (that is, listed on the standard page
of the website) a few hours after Firefox. Auto-updates may take one or
two days.
