What site manager?

[cut]

Who is in charge of the mozilla news server?
They should kill the feed from other servers for that spam (well, it's not spam,
but defamation).

That's what I'm doing.

My list also includes 'mafi' (for mafia, mafioso, mafiosi), barrai, and rossi.

I also use this filter set in several other Mozilla newsgroups, and it's been a
long time since I've seen any of the Italian stuff.

It's definitely bot-generated, and unfortunately (as somebody else in this

It's not a bot AFAIK, it's from a mentally disturbed guy (maybe two, but there's
one principal source).

Put one word only in the filter, then click the plus sign for another
criterion, enter one word, click the plus sign, etc. until you've
listed
all ten. Make sure the option, "Match any of the following" is
checked.
As you have it now, you're searching for the phrase, "PEDOFILO

I see a new post today, which hasn't been squashed, so I guess there

I did nor see it, so my list is not so bad:

PEDOFILO

PERVERTITO

BASTARDO

ASSASSINA
CRIMINALE

Yeap, that was one of the words I added.

What site manager?

Time to learn how to create a server wide or newsgroup specific filter.

My server wide filter for that spam has 17 entries.

Press the F1 function key to open the SeaMonkey Help Contents, enter
filters in the Search box and read the section on Creating Message
Filters.

what about reporting ISP and have them permanently Black listed.

Phillip, as I understand things, these ITALIAN SPAM were coming onto the
Mozilla Server via Google Groups and Google was not interested in
blocking them.

And, as I've typed elsewhere, I've tried listing the originating URL's
but the SPAMMERS just keep changing URL's.

Why did you need "Mark as Read" ? - If it's deleted this status is "not

added the "Delete Thread" filter, but, as the "Ignore Thread" had now
disappeared, I went looking for it and found, if I Up-Arrowed, I got a
seemingly endless list of "Ignore Thread" and "Delete Thread", but, no
matter where I was in the "list", I could only down arrow once!!

What site manager?

Time to learn how to create a server wide or newsgroup specific filter.

My server wide filter for that spam has 17 entries.

Press the F1 function key to open the SeaMonkey Help Contents, enter
filters in the Search box and read the section on Creating Message
Filters.

Can you share your entries?

I use SM filters regularly, but don't see how to identify messages in
Italian, or all caps, or with obvious hostility in the header!

Just pick common words from the Subject and use those. Doesn't matter if
they are in caps or lowercase.

Some of mine contain the whole Subject.

Match any of the following > Subject > Contains. Mark As Read then Delete.

Some of the words I use are the one in the topics subject, ocho,
truffatore, mafioso, berlusconi, CRIMINALE,

I've tried creating a new, Customized, Filter category, "NNTP-Posting
Host" 'cause I hoped the SPAM was all coming from one server, but, so
far, I've listed 9 different server addresses and still they come!

I have successfully filtered out those Italian post. Since this
moron uses many nasty Italian adjectives just create filters
containing those words. That's all.

For those of us who don't speak Italian, it's just a wall of random
words. What are the key ones to which you refer?

So there is no 'webmaster' or site manager running this News Group ?
Who does it belong to ?
Oh !
Is this thing run by the US Government !?
THAT would explain why no one is responsible for it !

It belongs to Mozilla.

The only moderated support groups are mozilla.support.firefox and
mozilla.support.thunderbird.

I believe some of the mozilla.dev and mozilla.dev.apps groups are moderated.

Create a filter for the news.mozilla.org server and filter out the
posts, or just Delete them.

This looks like a case of mixed terminology. Newsgroups are not websites. :)

The person you're looking for is Edmund Wong. He posted about the spam
in August:
