Note that using that method you will probably lose some information,
namely favicons, tags and visited counts/date. The format that keeps
most information is JSON (Tools/Backup), maybe even everything (actually
I'm not sure about visited counts/date there).

Do you know ahead of time approximately which grouping of Bookmarks you will be
dealing with, e.g. 'they are all from Bookmarks that I will gather

during today's browsing session'. If so then at the beginning of the session
create a Bookmarks folder and save your Bookmarks there. Then at the end they
will all be in one place and you can sort them and it will be easier to

select the groups to delete .
It isn't a clean solution, but should make things easier. Definitely easier than
Dump Edit Reload.

I was going to add that it might also be worthwhile looking into the
'CheckBookmark' add-on. However when looking to provide detailed
information regarding the add-on, I came across the authors websit:

If you are here looking for any of my extensions (SyncPlaces,
SortPlaces, CheckPlaces or SearchPlaces) then I'm sad to inform you that
these are no longer available.

Unfortunately I do not have the time or the motivation to continue to
support these in light of the close-minded, short-sighted and
increasingly inflexible organisation that Mozilla has become.

What a sad state of affairs...

Delete the folder!

Not so good when I don't want to delete all the Bookmarks in the folder.

Are you trying to do this in the Bookmarks manager?

Select the first one, hold down the Ctrl key and select the ones to
delete. Hit the Delete key on your keyboard?

That's a better way...if it works!

I tested in on a couple of old bookmarks and it seems to work. Only the
OP can tell us for sure!

...this is a great example of why I like to use/manipulate .html
Bookmarks more than the new places.sqlite file, and why I also don't
find Synch very useful.
