Well, find & replace did work with the previous build that I had

I tried a new profile, didn't change anything.

Try a new test profile. Also check if it is theme or add-on
related.

Open the error console and see if you spot something when you
press ctrl-f or select the menu. For the menu to work you need
to select something.

If you have a reproducible test case with a new profile open a
bug. You can always open one but with exiting profiles and x
add-ons in them it will probably not be fixed if it can't be
reproduced by a dev immediately.

Not good, the composer becomes quite useless this way.

Have you tried CTRL-F?

CTRL-F is the same as the choice "Find" not greyed but cannot be used
= no-action.

But "Find and Replace" is OK.

Are you in the "HTML Source" when you try CTRL-F ?

I tried ctrl-F as well, makes no difference. I'm using HTML source.
For me, it works using html source when I am on a page BUT it doesnot
work when I start the Composer, then open a page, then going to HTML-Source.
You MUST be inside the Composer envoronement when you go to
"HTML-Source" In that case the link visible by the menu is not working
an CTRL-F is not working as well.
If you are outside the Composer but inside the Browser part when you
display the page source CTFL-F and the menu - both works corectly. BUT
NOT INSIDE THE COMPOSER.

No, I did not use ctrl-F. I rarely use short cuts, I prefer using the mouse.

I don't know how the HTML was made. Sometimes I open a web page in the
composer to get the exact specification of an image, so Find .jpg. The
small version of the image is visible, but a larger version in a slide
show can not be saved in the normal way.

You also might like http://www.html-tidy.org/
  (binaries are here: https://binaries.html-tidy.org/)

do something like
tidy -q -modify -indent -wrap 120 --tidy-mark no FILENAME
to clean up the html and then use notepad++ for any final edits.

In a separate window, display the web version in your browser. Press
CTRL-U to display the source. In that window, Find works. Toggle back

in SeaMonkey's browser as you make changes.

Not efficient for large-scale revisions, but for what you describe it
should work.

If you have a reproducible test case with a new profile open a

function doesn't work. Find & Replace however does work.

With the latest build, 20180923041539, Find & Replace is broken as well!!

Not good, the composer becomes quite useless this way.

Works fine here

Try a new test profile. Also check if it is theme or add-on related.

Open the error console and see if you spot something when you press ctrl-f or
select the menu. For the menu to work you need to select something.

If you have a reproducible test case with a new profile open a bug. You can
always open one but with exiting profiles and x add-ons in them it will
probably not be fixed if it can't be reproduced by a dev immediately.

When I open a web page in the composer (File > Edit page), the Find function
doesn't work. Find & Replace however does work.
