Is there a method to install beta versions

Hi Andrés,

The most easy way (I always use it) for WINDOWS is:

1. download installer.exe oder .zip
2. Unzip installer.exe or .zip with an installer
   (Do NOT run installer.exe)
3. Launch your installed SeaMonkey
4. Menu ˋTools → Change User Profile → Admministrate Profiles →
Create New User Profile with Name "TestProfile" →
   Change to "TestProfile"ˊ
5. Create a batch file "SeaMonkeyTest.bat" which looks like
 CD C:\
 seamonkey.exe -ProfileManager
6. Double click "SeaMonkeyTest.bat"
» batch will launch your test version with derivation
to Profile Manager, where you should select "TestProfile"

My experience is that the launch of you normal SeaMonkey also will
launch via Profile Manager after you have tested you Beta version (so
that you can switch back to your default User Profile), but to be
sure, you can create a second batch file for your normal SeaMonkey
installation.

Tests with Beta will not be 100% independent from your installed
SeaMonkey, some WIN settings (Registry) might still have some control
for the test version. If you want to be 100 % sure you will indeed
need to use a VM. But this solution is VERY easy to do ...

Rainer

I use normally a standard windows user, not the administrator.

I can always create a new clean windows user to test it. I have copied
in the past  a seamonkey user profile  from a old computer to a newer one.

I didn't mean that I wanted to check that it tested for lack of SSE2 and
then refused to proceed. (I think Edmund said he has not put such checks
in yet) I wanted to check those parts of seamonkey which require SSE2
and see if they are still working. Someone mentioned that there is
assembler in the code, so I would expect that to fail.

But if the problem is only because Microsoft's Visual Studio is
producing SSE2 instructions, then that's not going to make any
difference to me on linux.

You may want to go to the Adobe web page and test your flash

When you drag an existing message into new message as an attachment, you
are NOT dragging an .eml file. To get an .eml file, you must first save
the existing file.

However, once you drag an existing message into new message as an
attachment, you can always rename the attachment to add .eml as a

i Don't think you need to be in US. You probably don't have javascript

Javascript is enabled and Adblock Plus being enabled or disabled for the

appear with Safari, but not with SeaMonkey or Firefox. So, if I ever
need such a map, I can use Safari.

You originally asked about 2.22, which I don't have yet (waiting for

But if we're allowed to answer for 2.21, I can view the maps fine on

Now this may not cause the change in drawing the maps but can anyone
tell me why this Java plugin is accepted by the new profile and not the
old? I have scripts turned on in Preferences for both profiles.

Only way to fix old profile is to disable all plugins and extensions/addons and
enable them one by one and also go through entire set of preferences in
Edit==preferences.

It is tedious if you have lot of plugins and extensions/addons.

I had to fix my profile when i moved from 2.21==2.22 as addon compatibility
addon which i had stopped behaving well.

I still don't know exactly what was wrong but do have a simple solution. Testing
by starting Seamonkey in safe-mode with all plugins deactivated did not help.
Creating a new profile worked but it is almost impossible to transfer over all
email and newsgroup accounts/messages. IMPORT from the mail newsgroup page in
v2.22 does not work. When you use Tools/Import the from where page is blank
and you can't get any further.

What I did find is that making a copy of prefs.js and deleting or renaming
prefs.js has the same effect as creating a new profile with one very major
benefit. Seamonkey will crate a new prefs.js but you will still retain your
bookmarks. You will also retain your extensions and email/newsgroup accounts and
messages if you just transfer all of the user_pref(extensions and
user_pref(mail.account entries for the copy of prefs.js to the newly
created prefs.js.
Subsequent editing of preferences in the normal manner is trivial to go back to
any special features you had set previously.

So in short, the upgrade from 2.21 to 2.22 must have resulted in some
incompatibility in prefs.js which Seamonkey did not report nor auto-correct.

They mostly had blank subject lines and no body. One had a garbage

Hmm, I wonder, should I call Louis? And ask him WTFO? I mean, the
number seems valid. Wow, what an interesting conversation that would
be! :-D

Every post seems less ... err ... uh ... sensible? Logical? Valid?
Sane? ... than the last. Haven't seen this in a while.

The problem is that, when Java I used click-to-play to enable Java 7u11
specifically for the three Web sites that I visit and that use Java. I
must assume that some preference or other setting was made to indicate
that Java would not be blocked for those sites. How do I clear that
prior enabling in order to test?

Java 7u15 (the latest available version) appears at
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/seamonkey/blocked/ as click-to-play
blocklisted as of today. None of the three Web sites indicated above
required a new click-to-play to enable Java.

I'll ask again: How would I undo that click-to-play enabling? When the
many click-to-play bugs -- 27 open, non-RFE, non-tracking bug reports as
of 20 February -- are fixed and implemented, will there be a user
interface to undo such enabling?

Works for me on one site but not on another in 15.2:

works on www.time.gov
does not work on the streaming stock quote app for www.stockwatch.com
(for paid subscribers)

Unlike time.gov, the stock quote app is a pop-up, which may have
something to do with it. I have pop-ups enabled for the entire site.

I'm not sure what has been fixed and in what version.
Java still does not work for me in Seamonkey. It works OK in Firefox.

Linux system, 64-bit Seamonkey 2.16, 64-bit Java 1.7.0_15.

The Java plugin libnpjp2.so is in the plugins directory but it simply
does not appear in the addons manager, no matter if I enable the
blocklisting or not. Many other plugins work just fine. Java used
to work as well, but it ceased to work some time ago.
