Re: [Sursound] Powering the DR-680
Hi Jascha, I trust you're referring to http://www.ebay.com/itm/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItemitem=28064464 Yep - I have been using one with my DR-680 - lots of recordings with all chan. simultaneously. I have no complaints - in fact, I've just ordered a second one so I can do round-the-clock recordings. There are no instructions so it took a moment to work out how to charge it, but it's AOK from my perspective. Re: [Sursound] Powering the DR-680
There was a recall early on in the life of the Tekkeon battery detailed here: http://www.tekkeon.com/recall/ but the latest models seem fine. Indeed, I've run my DR-680 and a Metric Halo ULN-8 from mine with no problems, and will be trying it out with the 788 once I can get a custom cable made. There used to be an extender that you used with a custom mount to give twice the operating life, which BH also sold. Might be worth checking it out. Re: [Sursound] Powering the DR-680
Not a bad day at all, although a film crew in the area meant that I was somewhat restricted as to where I could be, so only one close-up recording. However, I did get to try the ULN-8 with the Prestigio/Tekkeon battery pack and although it works perfectly well, the current demand of the ULN-8 with all channels providing phantom power proved to be pretty hefty and I was down to around 50% on the battery monitor after 45 minutes. I'll do a more complete test later. I started the DR-680 with Duracell Ultras, with a Sennheiser 418 and a Schoeps M/S pair (CMC4/8) and watched the juice drain out like water down a plug-hole, then switched to the freshly charged Energizers, which lasted the rest of the day (not continuously) with no problems. I guess that the 2600 mA versions would be even better. Regards, John On 19 Apr 2011, at 23:27, John Leonard wrote: Not as good as the Li-Ion pack, but not bad at 3 hours 15 minutes approx. I missed the exact cut-off as I had to answer a phone call and when I came back in to the room, the batteries had died. Maplin has packs of four of these batteries with charger at a sale price of £14.95. Tomorrow I'm back at Bentwaters with my tame Spitfire, which has had an engine change and so sounds rather different, for a set of recordings for a future CD release. I'll have a whole bunch of stuff to record with - from a ULN-8 down to a Zoom H1, although I suspect I won't use that much. ___ Sursound mailing list Sursound@music.vt.edu https://mail.music.vt.edu/mailman/listinfo/sursound
