Subject: Blocking request of a homepage
Importance: High

Hello dear SWINOG members

I have a friend, that has a Club Music related Newsletter with over 15000 Email
Adresses with double opt in and out.
On the 12. July a little ISP has sent a request to hostpoint, regarding my
friend and his spaming activity.

The ISP told Hostpoint, that www.housestation.ch was blocked by some ISPs. As i
know, sunrise has never blocked
the Homepage of housestation. I think that the complaint from the ISP is a
private hate against my friend.

Therefore i wanna ask, if you can tell me if you (ISP) are blocking this
Homepage, and if yes, how can we find
out what the reason of the blocking is.

Also we have complained at Hostpoint regarding the forward of the complaint
without having the related Mailheader
of the Spammail sent by my friend. The other thing is, that the Spammail in
question was sent out on May. But my friend
has sent out the Newsletter trough hostpoint the first time on the beginning of
june.

Thanks you for your help and feedbacks.

Sincerly,

Daniele Ladu

RE: [swinog] RFD: Filtering/Blacklisting AS9145 (EWETEL)Cause:Providing internet access to known spamer

2006-06-26 Diskussionsfäden Ladu, Daniele
The big ISP like Sunrise must make a better authorisation.

Trust me, we see wich CLI was used to send Socks Spam and Swissair Things.
Therefore we have blocked a wide range of ISDN Blocks. I hope the new law of
Spam here in Switzerland will come fastly, because then it's not important wich
ISP the Spamer uses. If he has his Business here in Switzerland, we can catch
him.
(And Mr. Fürst has all Business in Regensdorf)

So, i don't know why we need to take away / change the sunrise/freesurf dialup ?
We can react very fast on dialup users and also we can block very fast
dial up on our Switches. We see all CLI used on the dial up.

Sincerely

Daniele

I think two we can not abuse a AS9145. I think over 1000 normal clients have a
big problem.
For spamers like Fürst. It give only one way. The big ISP like Sunrise must
make a better authorisation. This is for spammers and hobby hackers not the
best way if you dial a Phonne Number 084055 and you take as username
sunrise Password freesurf. Some of the bigger Provider has Dial in Numbers with
bad or zero access control.

Blacklist all Dial in Numbers is a Problem like Sorbs...

I don't like Fürst... I think we shall canceld his phone line. This is the best
way.

RE: [swinog] Re: blocking ports?

2007-04-13 Diskussionsfäden Ladu, Daniele

* Block destination port 25. This prevents bots from sending
email directly to the victims MXes. No one wants to (must not)
run an MTA in a dialup range: Many MXes dont accept emails
orginating from dial-up rages. No one wants to (must not) run an
MX in a dial-up range. The risk of delaying or losing email due
to a IP change is not acceptable. And what if the successor of
the IP runs an MX which accepts all Mail..?

thats right. Telia has started as first ISP blocking Port 25 years
ago...

Given the second point is OK, this whole blocking thing this not
a bad idea. And its not that hard to configure
fetchmail/authenticated relaying to a smarthost for geeks who
want to run their own email infrastructure (in contrary it adds
som salt to the whole soup ;)

Why not sell some fixed IPs, to customers who want use their own
mailserver ?
If i receive a request from such a user, that has a dyn IP, i tell him
to buy
a static one, because of full control and exclusion of DUHL. Furthermore
the customer is self responsable, if a IP Adress in his range will be
listed.
Complaint Mails are also directly sent to the owner of the IP, so the
Abuse Team
don't need to work on such cases.
