Re: [swinog] Is Billag the next one following this idea...?
Right it's seems really silly. What if you buy your pc in parts ? Maybe they will make a table with quota of % that your CPU or memory represents in the total fee :) H ? :) By the way, I don't pay Billag since iv'e told them 1) that my TV cannot be connected to an Antenna because the building where I live haven't any, and 2) that I my car radio has no antenna connected to, so in both cases, i'm not able to receive any media. I guess as long as they really have no clue about what they are doing, you could say something as : my tv runs only shell sessions, I have no GUI interface as windows or X, I have no sound card, so I'm not able to use any video / audio media on the internet. But still, the idea is really stupid. (right I was typing silly at the top of the answer, but I'm starting to wake up ... ;) My 2 coppers :) Steven Glogger wrote: ...at least the germans are paying less then billag is asking... but imho: it's pure idiotic to collect a fee for a pc... -steven -Original Message- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Behalf Of Roman Hochuli Sent: Sunday, October 10, 2004 10:53 PM To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: [swinog] Is Billag the next one following this idea...? Hey Guys Take a look at [1] (unfortunatly in german). The germans are planning to collect the GEZ-Fee (the same thing as we are referring as Billag Gebühren in Switzerland) for every internet capable PC (even for companies!). but imho: it's pure idiotic to collect a fee for a pc... Not only that . . . they simply can't enforce it. And what's the value of a policy you can't enforce? They'll probably just generate another huge black market (as they do with the traditional radio broadcast fees). And beware: the fools won't be Billag, but the handful of honest cititzens who really do pay the fee. -- Dominik ___ swinog mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://lists.init7.net/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/swinog

Hi What if you buy your pc in parts ? Maybe they will make a table with quota of % that your CPU or memory represents in the total fee :) H ? :) The emphasis is on _internet capable_ PC. So if you have internet connectivity at home I guess that qualifies you as someone who needs to pay the GEZ. Having a TV-Card or similar equipment _does not_ require you to pay the GEZ.
