Thanks a lot for the advance notice, you're a truly awesome upstream
for us! :)

I've filed a ticket about this:
https://labs.riseup.net/code/issues/14751

anonym, if you can't, or don't want to, handle it in a timely manner,
please let me know ASAP.

[Tails-dev] Please test Tor Browser 7.5a5 in Tails

2017-09-29 Thread Georg Koppen
Hi!

Tor Browser 7.5a5 is the first version that contains Firefox's content
sandboxing (Level 2) enabled, thanks to Mozilla's help. Please test it
in Tails to make sure this feature does not break anything. My current
plan is to ship Tor Browser 7.0.7 with it enabled if nothing explodes.

Tor Browser 7.0.7 is supposed to get released in three weeks. It's a
planned release without picking up any security bugfixes (hopefully).
So, instead of the alpha you might want to take that stable version for
testing to be sure for 7.0.8 that everything is working fine.

Either way, let us know if you find content sandboxing related issues
that are blockers for Tails.

Georg

I simply want the logo to fit on a small screen, yes.
I think we can indeed get rid of the font on the small version.

I did not add any extra vertical space as far as I know. So I don't know
where you see that?

Agreed.

Yes, I figured that the current banner is actually not like what exists
on /promote... And I wondered how that version came to life.

So I'm fine with keeping the banner as is, and for the mobile version
just remove the text below.

Great, encoded into our calendar.

Next steps (in no particular order):

 - Our SponsorW team managers (Cc'ed) should check that their timeline
still works given this updated release schedule.

 - Organize RM shifts; I'll start this discussion right now on the
   relevant mailing list.

 - Check if we need to adjust our version numbering scheme.
sajolida, can you please take the lead on this after we've made
   a decision on #14578?

Ack, I very much agree with this.

So much for the "let's try to avoid having grant deadlines around the end of
summer" attempt... :) [Note: this is not a real disappointment, just ] If the
beta workaround is cool, this sounds perfect.

Hey!

It's so cool that you are doing some housekeeping on our CSS.
It definitely needs it!

Some comments:

- I'm not a fan of the mobile version of the logo. I understand that you
put the subtitle "the amnesic incognito live system" in a smaller font
so that it fits on the screen but now the font is barely readable for me
(with my glasses on and no colorblindness). I wonder if we should
instead get rid of the subtitle in the mobile version.

And I came to wonder whether we should even get rid of it in all
versions of the logo or make it optional as it's not very appropriate
for smaller rendering like in the banner or on small stickers.
Removing it might help us solve what I see as a uneasy tension in the
vertical alignment between (Tails + the amnesic incognito live system)
and the icon.

Also, in your mobile version you pretty much reuse the font size of the
logo where "the amnesic incognito live system" is as wide as "Tails" but
you also added some extra vertical space that is not present neither in
the logo nor on the desktop banner. Is there a reason for that?

As a more general note, in terms of style guide (I agree that so far we
have none), if we want to spend time on the display of our logo, I'd
rather go in the direction of using our logo in more similar ways
everywhere than creation new subtle variations.

But I reckon that we're doing this already in the banner so I can't
really blame you for continuing doing so :) And I'm not at all saying
that you should go edit our logo as part of this but maybe having some
discussion about it could be a first step towards and new a better version.

- I like the fixes on the sidebar and three-blocks for mobiles!

- I like the fixes to the breadcrumbs!

So after you gave me your take on the logo issue we're ready to merge!
