I guess, it's time for upgrade to Postfix. But, I suspect, I'll have the same problem. So, bigger question for you guys... - How do you send out email? via Postfix/Sendmail? Or, via Thunderbird? My Mail is currently sent out via Thunderbird. After using Emacs/GNUS for many years I have finally had to abandon it for mail unfortunately because at 81 years my eyes cannot handle the tiny print on the menu bars. Claws I tried but although it will automatically bring in GNUS mails I abandoned it for several reasons. - How do you read your emails? via Fetchmail/Mutt? Or, via Thunderbird? Mail currently is read on Thunderbird but I was using Fetchmail/Sendmail with GNUS I use getmail (a great step up from fetchmail), msmtp, and mutt. That combination works with Rogers and even with the University's hopeless MS Outlook mail management system. Sendmail weighs a ton, and Postfix isn't small either; msmtp = minimal smtp is enough for my needs. All my mail is sent via Thunderbird using SMTP2GO. Smtp is an application beloved of the Spammers. It gets the mail out, no Ifs, Ands or Buts. And if your output is less than 1K a month, it is completely free. Fetchmail and Sendmail served me well for many years with GNUS. The following is anecdotal, but might be of use to someone: I use version 45 of Thunderbird because the Menu Bars are legible to me. Gmail is a problem because V45 Thunderbird will not handle Authorization with Gmail so I had to Kluge it by setting my Gmail account to enable POP and selecting "delete" mails on the Gmail server. Thunderbird V45 rejects a standard account setup as it will not handle the OAuth 2.0 protocol so it's necessary to Kludge and select "Advanced" setup and select NTML as the Authorization Method which permits the addition of the Gmail account to the Thunderbird listing. A filter on whatever account you set Gmail to forward to puts the mail in the Gmail account on Thunderbird and permits the handling of Gmails normally. If there's a better way, I would certainly like to know. -- Slackrat 9HS5203 on HamSphere radio (HS4 on 2Meters is favourite) --- Post to this mailing list talk@gtalug.org Unsubscribe from this mailing list https://gtalug.org/mailman/listinfo/talk

It turns out upgrading to Postfix is not as easy as I thought. I have to upgrade/install shit load of libraries... might as well upgrade the distro. I tried Thunderbird, and it does work. But, it's not much different from using web! --William --- Post to this mailing list talk@gtalug.org Unsubscribe from this mailing list https://gtalug.org/mailman/listinfo/talk
