Windows 8.1, Event Viewer and Logs

2015-10-27 Thread Rick Thomas via Talk
Hi: I just went into the Event Viewer and found a confusing mix of controls
and no actual details for any logs and a whole lot of logs indeed.
Also, the Event Viewer locked up WindowEyes reading at one point where it,
the logger, was minimized. I alt tabbed into the event viewer, the title bar
read event viewer, routed the mouse to the event viewer window but up and
down arrows read the Desktop Icons and so focus was not in the Event Viewer.
Anyway, the event viewer is very confusing and I couldn't make sense out of
how to use it - any quick tutorials on this or is there a WindowEyes script
to make more sense out of this Window and all the many logs?
There has to be a trail of what is going on when WindowEyes slows down and
locks up but where to find the information and, or, the tools necessary to
find it is not a normal part of Application Programming so I am floundering
around since I don't even know what I don't know and that is the worst state
to be in and I could use some good starting points to build on.
In the old days of xp I could use the logs easily - not any more at first
attempts it seems.

Way To Track Module / Process Execution

2015-10-27 Thread Rick Thomas via Talk
Hi: WE is slowing down and stopping too often, getting worse lately.
I find that sometimes when the tab and arrow keys don't work that just
sometimes the mouse numpad keys still work for at least some navigation.
I am thinking there must be a program or script that allows for tracking of
what modules and or processes are running and which ones are hanging up on a
computer.
Now, since the keyboard is pretty much locked up during the hangups doing
allot of navigating around is out.
Is there an existing program, feature or script that allows for hitting a
hot key to start tracking methods and or modules and processes when the
slowdown first starts, allows for running for a short time and then loggs
the information about cpu usage, which methods and or processes and programs
or scripts are being invoked with times they are active - something to allow
for analysis of what is hanging the computer up?
Right now it could be WindowEyes, the OS or just about anything like
something trying to call out to the internet and waiting for a response or
any of many other problems and I am looking for a tool to debug the problem
so I can post up a fix or notify WindowEyes if it is WindowEyes related.
Any ideas or suggestions?
Anyone aware of any current WindowEyes scripts or, if you work for AI
Squared, any tools you use during testing changes to scripts or WindowEyes
before publishing?

Windows Resource Monitor?

2015-10-27 Thread Rick Thomas via Talk
Hi: As I start digging into how to find out what is causing WindowEyes to
slow down and lock up I found the Windows Resource Monitor which has its own
executible file.
First, it has allot, all, graphs and dynamic performance indicators on a
form which doesn't sound accessible to a screen reader but is it?
Second, has anyone developed a script to fire up Resource Monitor with a
small script if it is accessible?
If it is not is there a way to log the details of the real-time graphic
display values to a text or xml file or even another persistent storage that
can be read by humans?
Or, is there another piece of software where I can track what is causing the
WindowEyes slowdowns and lockups?

apex brailliant bi displays with windows 10

2015-10-27 Thread Roger Behm AIS via Talk

HI Window-eyes users,

I talked to Greg Stilson at HumanWare, who is in charge of their
braille products about windows 10 drivers for the apex and brailliant
bi displays.

He said they are working on a all new driver for the Apex and
Brailliant BI displays so you can just attached them with the usb
cable just like you would a usb keyboard and no drivers will be
needed to be installed.

Also the google android operating system has had a Apex in their
hands for sometime and they should have the Apex as a possible
braille display for braille back's google android just likek they
already have the Brailliant BI.

Re: Humanware Brailliant BI 40

2015-10-27 Thread Roger Behm AIS via Talk

HI Brailliant BI user,

HumanWare is working on a all new easier to use drivers for windows
10 and the apex and Brailliant BI. It will be very easy to attach an
Apex or Brailliant BI not needing to install any drivers, but just
plug it in and it works!

You should have looked before uupgrrading to windows 10 to make sure
your hardware is suported, before you took the leap.

Even MicroSoft released Windows 10 and there were programs that were
not accessible in Windows 10 by sscreen readers, and it was stated by
many AT specialists, don't upgrade unless you are forced to by your job.

It should be out very soon said the head of the braille products Greg
Stilson, from HumanWare, but let them get it right and it wil be nice
not to have to install any software to make the Apex or Brailiant BI work.

then press enter twice, and you will have no password at all

Re: Place Marker problem fixed

2015-10-27 Thread Larry Higgins via Talk
Just a tip. It really isn't necessary to reboot, only logout and login
again, and that works just as well and takes much less time.

Too bad you should have to do this at all, but at least there is an easy
thought slightly inconvenient solution.

Fixed, getting attachments now

2015-10-27 Thread Veronica Smith via Talk
Here is what I did. I did as chris recommended, opened the menu, control
back slash, enter enter and still couldn't find Window-eyes diagnostics, so
then I went to App central and found Utilities, there I found WEDiag and
downloaded it.
Then I went back and repeated the steps from before and turned on status. I
arrowed up to Window-eyes diagnostics, hit enter, arrowed down to refresh
libraries, exited out of there and wala, I am now able to open attachments.

RE: How to turn off auto we updates

2015-10-27 Thread Rod Hutton via Talk
Hi Rick,

As I've always known it, app updates always require confirmation before
taking place.
However, how you are notified is configured under the GW Toolkit app entry
in the Apps menu, by selecting the App updates option.
If you were to choose "Don't notify me," I think that you simply wouldn't be
notified about available updates.
Not being notified doesn't mean that they would be automatically installed.

Hth,

Rod

Internet Explorer Question

2015-10-27 Thread Mike Rogers via Talk
I'm having trouble with I.E. and don't understand. My place markers are set
with Firefox, but don't work with I.E. and the control-shift-k hot key doesn't
work with I.
E. I was hoping to switch , so the mouse keys would work, but there seems to
be other problems with I.E. the voice seems to stop working frequently. Pain
