Hi Andy,

It is an app, and, if you open the Window-Eyes control panel, press Alt-A to
open the Apps menu, you will find it's entry by pressing V since it starts
with this letter.

Subject: [EXTERNAL] Introducing Virtual View 5.0

Virtual View 5.0 now supports exciting new features such as the ability
to OCR images from files or the screen, plus virtualizing various
document formats, including PDF files. Here are some other features:

* You can open an image in any format (jpg, bmp, png, tiff,
etc.).
* If you press Alt-Print Screen to capture the active
window, Virtual View will automatically OCR it for you.
* The Virtual View options dialog lets you control image
manipulation to increase OCR success.
* Supports UAC, allowing you to get contents (specifically
UIA) from windows that are elevated.

* Images inside PDF files are prepended with [BEGIN
IMAGE] and appended with [END IMAGE].
* You can choose several different kinds of file formats to
virtualize, including:

* Txt

* Html

* Xml

* Zip

* And if you have Office installed:

? Docx

? Xlsx

? Pptx

Imagine a Word document filled with text boxes and word art. That
information will show up as plain text when passed through Virtual View.
Spreadsheets and PowerPoint presentations are the same way. If you want
to quickly skim a PowerPoint presentation without opening PowerPoint,
use Virtual View.

With zip files, Virtual View can open the zip file and get the text of
all text files. At the very least, you can get a list of the files in
the archive.

Hi, Sam. I'm not Aaron, but it is available right now, and it doesn't cost
any money, smile. The virtual view app is part of Window-eyes. You can get
the update in whatever manner you get updates. Maybe those of us who never
used the virtual view app will be inspired to use it. As I commented to a
user privately, this is quite a major update, or Aaron wouldn't have sent an
e-mail blast.

Introducing Virtual View 5.0

2015-11-04 Thread Aaron Smith via Talk
Virtual View 5.0 now supports exciting new features such as the ability to OCR
images from files or the screen, plus virtualizing various document formats,
including PDF files. Here are some other features:

* You can open an image in any format (jpg, bmp, png, tiff, etc.).
* If you press Alt-Print Screen to capture the active window,
Virtual View will automatically OCR it for you.
* The Virtual View options dialog lets you control image
manipulation to increase OCR success.
* Supports UAC, allowing you to get contents (specifically UIA)
from windows that are elevated.

* Images inside PDF files are prepended with [BEGIN IMAGE]
and appended with [END IMAGE].
* You can choose several different kinds of file formats to
virtualize, including:

* Txt

* Html

* Xml

* Zip

* And if you have Office installed:

? Docx

? Xlsx

? Pptx

Imagine a Word document filled with text boxes and word art. That information
will show up as plain text when passed through Virtual View. Spreadsheets and
PowerPoint presentations are the same way. If you want to quickly skim a
PowerPoint presentation without opening PowerPoint, use Virtual View.

With zip files, Virtual View can open the zip file and get the text of all text
files. At the very least, you can get a list of the files in the archive.

Gary, and others. Please read Aaron's responses, Steven Clower's response,
and my responses. The virtual view app is a Window-eyes update. Check for
updates in whatever manner you choose. Aaron sent the e-mail blast because
the virtual view app has what Ai Squared considers new and exciting
enhancements. The virtual view app is a Window-eyes update, nothing more.

Hi All,

Maybe this will help.
As you know window eyes has free apps that you can install and run with we.
They do all kinds of things like help get access to many windows programs,
help access all kinds of things etc.
Example: You can check the weather, you can get better access to outlook the
Microsoft email program and more.
Well, virtual view another free wineyes app has been upgraded with some of
the most useful features you could imagine.
So, use the free app called app get and either get or update your virtual
view app.
Then try out the new features Aaron and others are mentioning below.
Example: I just pressed ctrl-alt-v and launched the virtual view app.
I then was able to tab through the apps settings/features.
I cut and pasted a pdf file in to the Virtual View window and wow it did OCR
on the file and I could read just the text.
This is way cool, check it out and rely on your friends / users on this list
to learn more and get answers.

Hope this helps.
Thanks,
Sam

Re: Introducing Virtual View 5.0

2015-11-04 Thread David via Talk
Now, you only need to have a feature for us to fill in the OCR'ed image,
in cases when we receive a form in a PDF format, for instance. Too many
public services over here, now aday, demands you fill in PDF formatted
forms, which then have to either be printed or returned electronically.
If now we could have filled in the OCR version of such forms, and have
them returned/printed in their original layout, we would all be equated
with the sighted.

Still, a great step forward, and hopefully it will help many users.

Unfortunately, I have already seen a good handful of my PDF files, which
opens well in both Adobe and QRead, being refused by the VirtualView
app. You might want to know, why I even would bother, since the text
does show up in the other readers. Well, because the readers mess up the
columns and other layouts of the documents, so I hoped the OCR would
treat the documents somehow better. But no luck. It does not treat them
at all. Sent a couple of sample documents to Aaron directly, so
hopefully something can be done about it. Maybe just some kind of
settings that need be tweaked.

On 11/5/2015 1:05 AM, Steve Clower via Talk wrote:

Yes, you can use Virtual View to recognize image-laden PDFs, though your
success will also depend on the quality of the images and whether the file is
restricted from being accessed with screen readers. It should also work in
older versions of Window-Eyes. Note we no longer support XP and have not tested
the OCR component there. I expect that aspect of Virtual View will most likely
fail, but you're free to give it a try.

* If you press Alt-Print Screen to capture the active window,
Virtual View will automatically OCR it for you.
* The Virtual View options dialog lets you control image

* Supports UAC, allowing you to get contents (specifically UIA)
from windows that are elevated.

* Images inside PDF files are prepended with [BEGIN

* You can choose several different kinds of file formats to
virtualize, including:

* Txt

* Zip

* And if you have Office installed:

Imagine a Word document filled with text boxes and word art. That

Spreadsheets and PowerPoint presentations are the same way. If you want to

With zip files, Virtual View can open the zip file and get the text of all

Hello.

I know I for one will try it.
I never gave it any mind before.
Infact I got rid of it to save a little space and memory on my system.
But I'm going to check it out.

Hi All,

Maybe this will help.
As you know window eyes has free apps that you can install and run with
we.
They do all kinds of things like help get access to many windows
programs,

help access all kinds of things etc.
Example: You can check the weather, you can get better access to outlook
the

Microsoft email program and more.
Well, virtual view another free wineyes app has been upgraded with some
of

the most useful features you could imagine.
So, use the free app called app get and either get or update your virtual
view app.
Then try out the new features Aaron and others are mentioning below.
Example: I just pressed ctrl-alt-v and launched the virtual view app.
I then was able to tab through the apps settings/features.
I cut and pasted a pdf file in to the Virtual View window and wow it did
OCR

on the file and I could read just the text.
This is way cool, check it out and rely on your friends / users on this
list

to learn more and get answers.

Hope this helps.

Re: Introducing Virtual View 5.0

2015-11-04 Thread Martin Thomas Swaton via Talk

hi and thanks for this great new - long awaited - feature!
I tried alt-print with a few pdf files opened in acrobat (newest
version) with very different results.

How are we supposed to use this to get the best results out of it?

When I open a pdf then turn off browse mode and press alt-print virtual
view starts the ocr.
In two out of three pdf files I got "no text found" But there is text, I
know it.
In the third file VV did find text but also scanned the menue and
sidebar of acrobat - so the text includes also "save pdf" "create pdf"
and everything else.

how can I only get the text of an image?
And what can I do to get the other files scanned as an external ocr
would do it?

Thanks for some hints!
best,
Martin

* Txt

* Html

* Xml

* Zip

Re: Free and fully accessible Mp3 tag utility

2015-11-04 Thread Chris T via Talk
I like this one. I wish, though, that the old one put out by Musicbrainz was
still available and current. I really liked how the audio fingerprint system
could correct mislabelled tracks and fill in information that is completely
missing from old, generically labelled tracks. They went to Paccard Tagger
which required one to drag and drop everything, something that could not be
accomplished with Window-eyes or any screen reader, no method for accessible
dragging and droping would work, so that put the Musicbrainz system out of
accessible reach.

Chris

RE: WE and windows 10 one drive

2015-11-04 Thread Rod Hutton via Talk
Hi Don,

Disabling the syncing of content of your OneDrive is accomplished by closing
the OneDrive application, as follows:
Press Insert-S to open the system tray.
Press down arrow until you highlight OneDrive.
Tab to single right-click and press spacebar.
Press down arrow repeatedly until you highlight Exit and press Enter.
Press Enter to confirm exiting the OneDrive application, or tab to Cancel
and press Enter if you change your mind.
To resume syncing content again, launch the OneDrive application by finding
its icon on the Start menu.
Please note that simply opening the OneDrive folder is not sufficient to
resume syncing content.
You have to launch the OneDrive application for syncing to occur, although
doing this also causes the OneDrive folder to open, which is a convenience
provided by the application when it opens.
You can always monitor the progress of syncing by opening the system tray,
pressing down arrow to highlight the OneDrive entry, and you will hear the
current status.
Note also that leaving focus on this entry in the system tray does not give
you dynamic status of the syncing process, that is, it is necessary to close
and re-open the system tray and highlight the OneDrive entry in order to get
the current status of OneDrive.

Hth,

Rod

How to solve a problem with WordPad, just change to NotePad instead

2015-11-04 Thread Larry Higgins via Talk
And folks, that's just what I did. I really would like to know what the
issue with WordPad might be, but since for the use that I was putting it
toward - simple note taking and the like - It just seems more
appropriate to simply use the most accessible, not to mention faster
loading of the two, or three if you wanted to count MSWord as a possible
option.

So thanks to all who gave their advice and suggestions, it is really
appreciated.

Re: firefox not clicking on links

2015-11-04 Thread net bat via Talk

you click on the heading not the web page. the heading is the link.
also google is easier to use if you press shift enter on the headings to open
another tab instead of enter.
then when you close the tab you will be in the same position on the screen
where you left off.

Subject: firefox not clicking on links

Hey guys,

I am running firefox and we 8.4. I have no idea how this started. I
did a search on google. When i am looking through my search results,
and i depress the enter key on any of the links it just sits there and
does absolutely nothing. This is rather concerning, no errors are
coming up or anything. Any ideas?

2015-11-04 Thread Rod Hutton via Talk
Hi everyone,

Today, I found a Free and fully accessible Mp3 tag utility, and so I thought
I'd pass it along to anyone interested.

This allows you to update the tags for mp3 files by accessing online music
databases, etc.

The URL is:

http://www.mp3tag.de/en/

Enjoy,

Rod
