Could anybody pleas enlighten me?

2015-11-12 Thread Larry Higgins via Talk

Hello Listers,

I realize that this question may be more than a bit general, so it may
evoke many or for that matter few responses for that reason, but here goes.

I recall there being a discussion concerning the use of File Explorer in
Windows 10 by WE 9.2 users. Apparently the file explorer behaved quite
sluggishly, at least when Windows 10 came out.

Of course, there may be other things that I should be ware of, and if
you all wish to discuss them as well, that would be welcome.

I am using Window- Eyes 9.2 for Office a Dell XPS PC with a 3.2gb CPU, I
believe previous generation, 64 bit, with 8gb of ram, so I am naturally
hoping that there will not be any noticeable or significant slowing down
of the system with this upgrade, if I should decide to go ahead and do
it. And again, if there are any other risks or frustrations to consider,
please let me know.

If you don't wish to clutter up the list with anything previously
discussed on this matter that I might have missed, please feel free to
contact me off list.

Thanks,

Larry

Based on what you've posted, this probably won't work, but you can press the

Re: How do I close the computer?

2015-11-12 Thread Tom Kingston via Talk

Ivan,

If neither Alt-F4 from the desktop or Windows key followed by up arrow
twice to the Power button and space bar or Enter to activate it doesn't
work there's one more thing you can try.

Control-Alt-Delete. You should come in on Lock. Shift Tab once to the
Shutdown button. Space bar or Enter to activate it. This should open a
context menu with sleep, shutdown, and restart. I would use restart to
give the system a chance to fix this problem. It is a serious problem
when you can't access this most basic component of Windows.

Hth,
Tom

This new November windows 10 update build 1511.3, 10586 takes as long to
install as the first upgrading to Windows 10 took. Have it installed on two
machines so far. Don't see anything of major significance as yet.
Maybe the AiSquared staff could tells us if this anything special with
regards to screen readers and this update.

Keeping Firefox Happy and Running

2015-11-12 Thread Mike Pietruk via Talk
I use Ie as my primary browser but also have Firefox on my system for use
in specific situations. Firefox, to its credit I suppose, is so concerned
about system security that it insists on updated add-ons and plug-ins.
Is there some program, utility, or app that can monitor this and
automatically take care of the updating.
Not only are these warnings and crashes annoying, but on numerous
ocassions, seemingly difficult to satisfy.

A mark of true thankfulness is that we love the giver more than the gifts.

Re: how to prevent internet exploreer from saving anything

2015-11-12 Thread net bat via Talk
you don't want to do this. it will not even save your visited links while you
are useing i e so you don't know where you have been. everything is erased as
you are browseing. nothing is saved. its all removed as you use i e.
instead go into the internet options from the tools pull down. in the general
menu go to delete history on exit and check it.
then go to delete. in there you can check all the options to delete everything
on exit.
this way it will save links, cookies passwords etc. while still useing i e
until i e is closed.

Private browsing is the only way I would say.
Browser close, everything will be wipe out.
IE 11 should be ctrl - shift - p.

Hi,
He doesn't want anything saved, not just google accounts.
For example when closing internet explorer, everything goes, all logged in
accounts from all services.
Cache, cookies, temp files etc.

Dennis and group,

One other tidbit that might be useful.

Here is a URL to logout of all Google sessions. You could attach this to a
key and use it as a shortcut / macro to force all sessions to logout.

Open the browser, alt-t for tools, o for options, under the general
menu tab, tab down to history and check the box for saving history.
You can also make additional changes under the setting button below
the check box. HTH

Hi Dennis:
The only way I know right now is to sign out when you leave Gmail.
Then the next time that you sign in you will not be taken right into
your account.
I don't know of a way to change this behaviour.
