>From time to time, I've had Spell Checker issues with MS Word 2010 and
then MS Word 2013.  

Always figured the Scripts were not working right, but was never able to
get the Spell Checker to speak reliably.  

I finally grew tired of MS Office in General, and just switched over to
Jarte and the Spell Checker works fine there.  

Just became tired of forking out the price for the MS Office upgrade.   
I could have subscribed to 365, but I just figure Jarte was good enough.   
And so far it has been.

If you use your mouse navigation keys, first to route to focus, and then to 
explore the pop-up menu choices, it works quite well.

Take a look at AccessWorld monthly magazine published by the AFB.  This free
online magazine will most assuredly have all the details about the new
products at CSUN.

You can, for instance, just type into the Google search box Accessworld
March 2017 to find that month's issue.  The AFB personnel do a good job on
reviewing new products, and the News column can keep you up-to-date on
stuff.

WE versus spellcheck in office 16

Yes, the new method is good, although not so new now.
It works very well when you want to copy or move a large block of a screen.
However, if just a word or two then the old method is easier.

RE: interesting problem with Notepad

My observations are subjective at best, but I think that Microsoft Office
products somehow affect focusing and sometimes even how the cursor works in
other applications.  If you have the problem in NotePad again, it would be
interesting to know if it clears up without closing and opening the file if
you close all Microsoft programs.  Be sure that there isn't a Microsoft
OneDrive loggin prompt open.

Since I have been compelled to use JAWS more, I have noticed that when it
gets confused, it has a "Lost Focus" message which seems to happen most
frequently when Microsoft Office products are running, particularly Outlook.
I mention that here because I think screen readers may be encountering some
similar issues but handling them differently.

I don't recall ever seeing this in Notepad. But I do agree. If I have
several programs open, and particularly if I'm jumping back and forth
between them a lot, usually because they're all related to a project, things
can get dicey, especially if I've been pounding away at it all day long.
So I generally don't leave everything I might use open.

Since I am not a VFO employee I can't say anything definitive, but what I
can say with certainty is this. I am an employee of Saavi Services for the
Blind, and as of March 8, 2017, per a company statewide training event, the
general consensus of both our A.T (assistive technology) department, and
personnel associated with Digital Apex seems to be that any future
development of Window-eyes for all intents and purposes is just for whatever
reason not gonna happen. I'd love to be wrong about that, because like I've
said before on here, I have been a loyal user of Gw Micro's products before
Window-eyes was even a thing! Back when they (and everybody else for that
matter) were developing screen readers for Dos! I guess we'll just have to
wait and see what happens. I for one am not gonna give up on you Gw, not
'til the fight has officially ended.
Come on! You can do this! Dig deep! Way down deep! Breathe slow, clear your
head, remember your training and where you came from, and overcome this! You
may yet be able to pull out a win.
