Hi I have the latest version of window-eyes.
Looking in to avast now witch is better to get the free one or the paid one?
Or doesn't it really matter?
Also how well does it work with the latest version of window-eyes?
What all settings do you have to change if any to make it work well with
window-eyes?
Or do you all suggestions to stay away from avast and go with something
else for antivirus that might be A bet better.

RE: MaPler Software

2016-04-03 Thread Josh Rivera via Talk
That may get you there, but it won't get you any further. As far as I am
concerned, those people should get out of the software business, as they
simply ignore your requests for help. I payed for the product, and it worked
for a time, and I liked it, but all of a sudden, I was asked to reregister
the product for it to keep working, but they wouldn't send me another
registration code. So I was unable to use it any more. They must have gone
on a long vacation, and never returned. Smile

I am retiring.

My career in the Assistive Technology industry started in the late 80's,
working for Computer Aids Corp. for a couple years, where I met Doug
Geoffray. Then I partnered with Doug to launch GW Micro in 1990 which
operated for 24 years, followed by our merging into Ai Squared in 2014. So
now, after almost 28 years in the AT industry, it's time for me to take a
break. I will be retired from Ai Squared after this week. No worries - the
rest of the Fort Wayne office and staff will continue as normal - whatever
normal means .

I'm not very active on this list but I look at many of the posts and I know
many of your names even if we rarely talk on the phone or meet in person. I
will continue to support Ai Squared and if the opportunity presents itself
who knows - I might come back for a few special projects from time to time.
Thank you very much for your support and friendship.

One thing I understand - this industry is very different from all others.
The people I know not only want to stay active, employed or stay in business
but they also want to make the world a better place by providing quality
products and services. You should all be proud of whatever contribution you
personally make.

Thank you all again for your friendship and loyalty over the many years.

Take care,

You can press the Windows key, and when Cortana comes up, type Internet, and

this will probably point you to IE. But a better way is to find out where IE

is on your taskbar. If it is the fourth item from the left, for example, you

can type the combination Windows-4 (the 4 is on the number row) and IE will
start up. Or you can press Windows-T, use the arrow keys to move right or
left to Internet Explorer, then the context-menu key to open a jump list for

I E. You can up or down arrow through the jump list and open frequently used

websites using I E. Same methodology can be used for Firefox, the Windows
file explorer, or other programs that you pin to the taskbar.

Subject: monthly updates

Hi,

I am attempting to install the monthly updates on my W 7 HP 32 bit
system and it keeps trying to download W10. There are 12 or 13 updates
for W7 and after checking all the boxes, pressing space on OK, I am left
with a "get started" option. This is the only option available as the
'install button" is no longer to be found.

Pressing enter onthis options starts the download of the monthly
updates but it also says at the top, "downloading Windows 10".

As I am not ready to install W10 as yet, turning off the modem stopped
the download of all updates. Checking the update history, it showed that
the intended updates failed but the first entry mentioned that the
download of W10 also failed.

Has anyone come across this one and figured out how to get the monthly
updates without triggering a W10 invasion?

Thanks
Neville.

Hello, I had been using a windows 7 laptop running wineyes 7.5, and it was
fairly stable. When I finally upgraded to wineyes 9.1, the new browse mode
could not perform the same tasks as the earlier version of wineyes. It kept
freezing up while I was on the web doing the same tasks as I had done while
running wineyes 7.5. Pressing control, alt, W did nothing. I had to do a
cold boot everytime. After using 9.1 for a couple of weeks, I had to
uninstall it and go back to an earlier version. This time I installed 8.4,
and it works as well as when I was running wineyes 7.5. So, to get the
benefits of the new browse mode, I would have to sacrifice stability. For
me, wineyes 9 was a waste of money. I can't even use it. I mean what good is
a silent screen reader. I have been using wineyes since the 1990's, and I
have never been this disappointed. The new browse mode is so dysfunctional
that it should be in beta.

If you've been paying attention to most of the messages, concerning this
instability issue, you'll notice that the hot key, control-alt-W, in many
cases does not work to bring speech back again. It almost never works for
me, and a hard reboot must be done to bring WE back. I've said it before,
and will say it again, WE-9, is the crashiest version of WE ever!

Butch,

My experience has been the opposite of yours. I was finding that the
new dynamic web pages were becoming more difficult if not impossible to
read until the new brows mode was released. It is true that there is a
minor stability issue with the new brows mode, but I know this issue is
being addressed. Remember, you can always hit alt control W to restart
speech if it stops. The new brows mode makes possible the reading of
constantly changing web content. Thank yew to the Window Eyes
development team!

It's been my experience, that the window-manager app doesn't always work. I
have entered MSE several times, but it still, more often than not, doesn't

Hi John,

I've found this is often a sign that a window is not maximized; so try
maximizing each window when you open it. Or, download and use the Window
Manager app, which will do this for you automatically.

I have installed version 9.2 and it isn't reading full lines, such as
complete file names, lines on a web page or the settings in the WE
control panel. For example, in the control panel, WE will read hot
instead of hot key. What do I need to change to fix this. I'm using
a triple talk pci synth and Windows 7 professional. Also,
ctrl-shift-t no longer gives me the state of a window, just the first
part of the title.

RE: Cut and paste question.

2015-07-12 Thread Josh Rivera via Talk
For the record,
I can't figure out, for the life of me, why GW-Micro thought that the old
method of cut and paste needed fixing. This F-8 thing is for the birds! I do
quite a bit of selecting large portions of text, from either emails or web
pages, and I'm constantly having to go through a large document line by
line, just to delete blank lines that appear in the document. This is a
pain, and never happened with the old method, control-shift-down arrow. This
is simply ridiculous!

RE: Is there a 9.2 on the horizon?

I am running Win-7-home premium 64 bit, and as I said in a previous post, WE
crashes many times, certainly more than any previous edition of WE. Hitting
the hot key, control-alt-w, almost never brings it back up, neither does
windos-keyR, and typing wineyes, bring it back either. I almost always have
to press the button on the tower to shut down, and restart.

Hello Vaughan,

Interesting that you find Window eyes 9.1 to act up on your Win 7
Professional system.

I actually had my Win 7 Pro system at work, and I had some issues
with it there, using the older 8.4 edition.

I brought it home, and installed the new 9.1.

have noticed it seems a bit slower, and of course, I have already
expressed the problems on the when using the Web Browser.

I have wondered if the problem is the difference between Win 7 Home
edition and Win 7 Professional?

Because some here seem to have little problems with 9.1.

t 03:49 PM 5/15/2015, you wrote:
I have two contrasting experiences with version 9.1.

On my 8.1. 64 bit machines, 9.1 has proven to be the most stable of
Window-Eyes releases. I do experience some problems with the rewrite of
browser support, where lines are repeated and some inconsistencies exist
with links loading, but Window-Eyes has not crashed on these machines.

On my workstation at work, which is Windows 7 32 bit professional,
Window-eyes is not a happy customer. Much of this is dues to the various
security applications we are layered with - they don't allow Window-eyes to
install properly, and they have not updated Internet Explorer. Corporate
firewalls prevent app updating and the sending of crash reports. Excel is a
very sour lemon. There is no AI Squared support for us in New Zealand,
so
we pay for a product which includes services we don't get. I have always
known this, and the choice to purchase is voluntary.

On balance - given the progress that Window-eyes 9.1 made over version 8.4,
I am hopeful that the next release will be a leaps and bounds progression.
It needs to be, as for me at least, it is not a producgt which is robust
enough to deal with commercial/corporate installations over which the end
user has no control. For me as the home user, I prefer Window-Eyes over
NVDA, as the domestic experience is generally positive.

Vaughan.

I am not sure what New way the Folks at Window eyes has come up with to

After up dating to we 9.1 Outlook 2003 we echoes no flag as I arrow
down through my messages in the in box. This no flag is something I
don't need to hear. I also find no way to see how many unread messages
are in the in box. The status bar just tells me how many messages are
in the folder.
Please help.

RE: WE and Eset Smart Security

2015-04-02 Thread Josh Rivera via Talk
What makes you say that Microsoft is not updating MSE? I have it on my PcC,
and it's updated automatically every day.

that they are not upgrading? Pam.

Hi, in my view, I would use another antivirus software and do another skin!
Thank you.

Is this a WE issue, or am I missing something here.
Thanks for guidance on this.

RE: W.E. compadible BlueRay players

2015-03-29 Thread Josh Rivera via Talk
I also use VLC, and it works well for me. I'd like to know what others are
finding wrong with it also.

I'm curious; what is inaccessible about VLC? I use it all the time, since
my winamp has lowered its volume, and no amount of up arrowing will bring it

any higher than it is. I can lower the volume, but that's not what I want.
The volume is stuck with its highest at about half mast. Somebody once said

what could be done about that, but I don't remember what it was, and I
couldn't make it stick when I did. But back to VLC. I use it now and have
found no problems with it. What doesn't it do well that you want to do with

it? Pam.

I kind a remember vlc, at least on the Windows side of things not being all
that accessible. It was doable, don't get me wrong, but very confusing at
best.

I wonder if Cyberlink Power DVD would be suited for playing Blu-ray. I
think the most recent version is, and last I looked, it was extremely
extremely accessible. The main trick is, everything is done through your
application's key menu. So in other words, when you bring up the app, you'd
hit the application's key, then everything would be in that menu.

Blaze DVD might be another option. It's Interface is literally almost
identical to Power DVD.

Chris.

Hello, If I am correct! I believe, the latest version of VLC media
player.will play Blu-ray discs, if you have the appropriate hardware in
your computer. It has to be the latest version. Thank you.
