Hi Tom

Something has changed in Edge by a big automatic update so functions have
changed.

Start Edge

TAB to Favorits

Hit Favorit list once (not twice)

Select your Favorit with down/up keys

Open Context menu

You stand on Open in tab

Go to Open in window with down key once

Enter

You can also hit Shift+Enter to Open in window

Your Favorit should open in a window.

This should work. Good luck!.

Kind regards,

Luciano

Is there any way to copy anything on edge with jaws? Presently, I am
relying on n v d a, because I cannot find a way with jaws.

Thanks for your help. You will be hearing from me again.

It is also my understanding that one's success with Edge will depend some
upon the version of Windows 10 that one has installed. Microsoft has been
making changes to Edge as well as have screen readers.

Tony, I apologize. I must correct something: please replace standard with
default browser. I have Edge as default browser for working in Edge and
using Edge to read PDF documents. But I also have Internet Explorer in the
task bar. Of course, after quitting Edge you can go to IE as before. When
having IE as default browser and entering Edge, you cannot work in Edge with
Jaws.

Hope this helps.

WG: Jaws and Edge

2017-11-07 Thread Luciano Ortelli via Talk
Tony, I apologize. I must correct something: please replace standard with
default browser. I have Edge as default browser for working in Edge and
using Edge to read PDF documents. But I also have Internet Explorer in the
task bar. Of course, after quitting Edge you can go to IE as before. When
having IE as default browser and entering Edge, you cannot work in Edge with
Jaws.

Hope this helps.

Kind regards,

Lucian

WG: Is there a Find feature in JAWS?

Hi Steve and list,

You are absolutely correct. In Word there is the Word FIND feature with
Control f. I never did test in Word if Insert Control f was working as I
learnt this feature in Adobe Reader only although there in it under Edit a
FIND feature with Control f but it doesn't work in my program. However,
Control f and F3 to repeat work perfectly in Internet Explorer. That is the
situation on my machine.

Thanks for the clarification. This is, unfortunately, not a simple subject.
I did not know that CONTROL-F brings up the JAWS dialog in Internet
Explorer. INSERT-CONTROL-F seems to also bring it up for me. Internet
Explorer also has a find command that is initiated by CONTROL-F, but the
JAWS Find overlays it. That is good since the JAWS Find in this case will
search the entire virtual buffer which is probably what one wants.

However, in Word, I find that CONTROL-F brings up the Word search dialog,
but that is probably the best one to use in word. INSERT-CONTROL-F still
brings up the JAWS Find command for me. There are some differences between
the two dialogs so it is good to know which is being used.

I don't mean to seem to be splitting hairs, it is worth knowing which
command is being used. In addition, I want to know if I am wrong.

Best regards,

Steve Jacobson

Isn't the JAWS "Find" command JAWSKEY plus CTRL plus F? Control-F is often
the key to bring up a find dialog in specific software, but this is
different.

If one goes to the JAWS screen with JAWSKEY plus j, then to the Utilities
Menu, there is a "Search for Command" utility that can be very useful. I
have found this utility to be frustrating sometimes, though, because the
terminology is different in JAWS than in Window-Eyes, so one has to
experiment sometimes.

AW: Is there a Find feature in JAWS?

2017-09-02 Thread Luciano Ortelli via Talk
Hi Steve and list,

The Jaws command for FIND is Control+f in Internet Explorer and Word and
Jaws key+Control+f in Adobe Reader.

Best regards,

Steve Jacobson

AW: Jaws browse mode

2017-08-29 Thread Luciano Ortelli via Talk
David,

It's because on the Swiss keyboard y is there where you have z, while we
have z where you have y. I think the normal key on English or US-American
keyboards is insert+z.

Furthermore good luck.

Thanks, that did the trick, Insert-Z.

And no wonder you don't find it, when they name the feature something
totally different. Smiles.

At least, now we have solved my first user issue. Then there is only
left to solve the 1209 others. Even more smiles.

News for you. At least with my installation.

In Jaws, pressing the L key, moves you to the next List. Not Link, but list.
Unvisited link, is U, and true V is visited link like in WinEyes.

If this indicates that I have a messed up installation, then how can I get
it rectified? Please.

Still, I am looking for the hotkey to turn off browse mode, since I have
to adjust the volume in a netbased radio player. To do this, I need have
browse mode off, and use the arrow-keys. But since I don't seem to find
the correct hotkey to turn off browse mode, I am just moving around the
page, when hitting the arrow keys.

If you mean, what do they work with as in, what programs, they work with most
any well-written standard windows program. It’s just the modern apps that they
may be behind on.

This could change. The recent update is from January of this year, though, and
they do not seem to support even the Mail app yet.

They do support Office, at least, when I used outlook, Supernova told me about
spelling corrections and such.

Haven’t had time or inclination to do a thorough test.

They do have U.S. based sales reps, so it might not hurt to talk to a rep and
see if they can highlight anything special they do that Window-Eyes and JAWS
don’t.

Oh, there are a couple things. This product does include OCR, but, and they may
have some scanning and reading functions.

I may have some time this evening to explore a little further on that. There
are some. I do have 30 days to look around, after all.

"gea" gibt es übrigens auch im Englischen, und die Aussprache ist gleich wie

Einen schönen Nachmittag und Gruss.

Betreff: Re: Printing Envelopes

Hi,

The method I use for printing an envelope is quite simple and works like a
charm once it is set up. However, a pair of eyes is required at the start
to position the address correctly.

Save a blank page in Word and call it something like, business
envelope.docx. If you have a used envelope of the size you wish to use, then
the sited person can measure the top and left margins so similar margins can
be set in the blank document.

Insert an address and print it on to the size envelope you wish to use.
You'll probably have to adjust the top and left margins a few times until
you get it right. Make sure you save the document with the altered margins
regularly.

To use,
1. just select and copy the required address from your document,

2. open a new document and load the file with the altered margins.

3. paste the address into the document and print.

A different document could be set up for each envelope size you wish to use.

Of course, this can be streamlined considerably if you can reccord a macro
to do all the hard work.

A macro I wrote quite some time ago does the following once the cursor is
placed on the first line of the address to be used:

Moves the cursor to the left, selects the lines of the address and copies
them to the clipboard, opens a new document, loads the altered blank file,
pastes the address and changes the text to upper case.

I have found that each time the printer is changed, the margins need to be
reset.

HTH
  Neville.

AW: Windows 10 Upgrade a Disaster

2015-12-19 Thread Luciano Ortelli via Talk
Guten Abend Frau Wicki

Actually, there's no need to uninstall it, as long as you had version 9.2 or
above. You just have to reinstall it after the upgrade to Windows 10 in
order to install the modern video driver.

Rod

its not a bust. its better then ever once you get it going.
which version of w e was installed before windows 10 was installed?
I believe you have to uninstall window eyes before you upgrade to windows 10
from windows 7.
then install w e 9.2 after windows 10 is installed.
***once you have done a in place installation and it has been activated you
could wipe the drive and do a clean install of windows 10 again.
you would not need a activation key because it is retrieved from microsoft
when you install it again. then you have a fresh version of windows with
none of the file coruption you may have had in windows 7.
yes you would need help to get to the desktop and install w e 9.2 then 9.3
but it would work much better.
as far as the w e cd disk not starting this may be because it is not setup
to load.
you would have to go to the control panel, to auto run and tell windows what
you want the different cd or dvd types you want to run and what to do when
you insert them.
the other way would be to press windows e to open this pc. go to the c dvd
drive and open to see the files and run w e from the setup.exe program to
start the installation.

Subject: Windows 10 Upgrade a Disaster

Hi, Folks. I tried upgrading to Windows 10 from Windows 7 on a Dell
Precision 1700 with 8GB RAM. While I got to Narrator, I couldn't get the
Window-Eyes CD or DVD to start. When I tried to run Window-Eyes at the
desktop, the sound card got stuck and I had to shut the machine off.

When I restarted the computer, I got the Windows 7 sound, the Window-Eyes
sound, and nothing happened. With sighted help, I was able to restore the
previous build, and now it's working. Is there something I'm missing? Why
won't the CD spin up when I insert it? Is there something else I need to
do? As far as I'm concerned, this whole Windows 10 upgrade's a
bust.--Matthew Chao

Nick,

The URL you gave below appears to be in Russian. I'm not sure if it is Russian
but it certainly is not English. Window-Eyes is sending the text to your
English synthesizer but it doesn't know how to speak it so it simply ignores
it. So I do not consider this a Window-Eyes issue.
If you are interested in supporting pages with this language you would need to
get the appropriate synthesizer.
