Re: monthly updates

2015-12-11 Thread Stephen Clark via Talk
I've been using Windows 10 since the initial release with Win-eyes 9.2.
Now Microsoft just released the major November upgrade which, for the
most part, works fine. Here is my question.

Microsoft has updates constantly being released, usually more than just
monthly at this point.
Window-eyes, on the other hand, is still on version 9.2 released on July
21 before Windows 10 even officially came out! So Win-eyes still with
all of it's bugs and short comings and has not been updated once during
all accept for some app updates here and there.

I'm sure AI Square will release a new version of Win-eyes some time, but
how much longer do we have to wait just to get these bugs fixed? Also
will we be be charge for a new upgrade which, in my opinion, is way over
due. Nobody should have to wait this long!

Subject: monthly updates

Hi,

I am attempting to install the monthly updates on my W 7 HP 32 bit
system and it keeps trying to download W10. There are 12 or 13 updates
for W7 and after checking all the boxes, pressing space on OK, I am left
with a "get started" option. This is the only option available as the
'install button" is no longer to be found.

Pressing enter onthis options starts the download of the monthly
updates but it also says at the top, "downloading Windows 10".

As I am not ready to install W10 as yet, turning off the modem stopped
the download of all updates. Checking the update history, it showed that
the intended updates failed but the first entry mentioned that the
download of W10 also failed.

Has anyone come across this one and figured out how to get the monthly
updates without triggering a W10 invasion?

Thanks
Neville.

RE: monthly updates

2015-12-11 Thread Russell Bourgoin via Talk
Hi,

I am totally blind and am having no problem using windows10. In
fact, I quite like it. I have had a lot of experience using windows and the
only iteration that I never really dealt with was windows 8 and windows 8.1,
and oh yeah, windows 3.0 and 3.1. Ever since xp, with the noted exceptions,
I've really had no problems. Perhaps windows10 is daunting at first to
those who are unconfortable with the new, but that's why we are all here on
this list. Roll with it and just remember my simple little motto, it'll be
alright.

Yeah, I found the checkbox dealing with Downloading W10 and unchecked

I will update to W10 shortly but not quite ready for it yet.
