RE: outlook 2013 help needed

2015-06-16 Thread Van Lant, Robin via Talk
The easiest way to create a rule is to find a message in your inbox like you
want to go into a new folder. Then hit the application key to open the context
menu. Near the bottom is an option for rules and if you right arrow to open
that option, Outlook will suggest a few rule definitions for you about moving
messages like it to a new folder. If one of those meets your needs, hit enter
on it and you'll be given a dialog listing existing folders you can move the
message to in this rule. If you need to add a new folder, hit shift tab and
you'll be on a New button where you can add new folder name then go back to
that folder list and tell outlook where you want the folder to be. Select your
account name if you want the folder on the same hierarchical level and your
inbox, which is what you probably want.

If the suggested rule options don't meet your need, you can go down and select
the Create a rule option, which opens a dialog box for your to design your own.
You might use this is you know the subject line will contain a certain string
of text or you want the rule to grab any message containing a certain set of
text.
