Re: weird issue with browse mode

2015-11-14 Thread Marc Solomon via Talk
Unusable, no. But, since results are displayed dynamically on the page as you
type with browse mode off, the user has to enable browse mode before
navigating the search results. This can be tricky for novice users. With
Google instant disabled, results don't get displayed until you submit the
search, and then a new page loads with the results. Browse mode kicks on
automatically when the results page loads and you can start navigating through
the search results. There is a tutorial that covers how to disable Google
instant and perform a Google search on the old GW Micro site. Use the training
link and then tutorials link to get there.
Hth,
Marc

Is google unusable when instant search is enabled with WIndowEyes? If not,
I would love to hear a demo of the best way to use this. I leave Google
Instant on when using other screen readers, and I have probably used WE
with Google Instant.

Hello,

The New version of Browse Mode at least on my system, tends to be a bit
quirky.

Sometimes it works as it should, and other times, as you say, you need
to turn it On. I see this all the time when visiting Youtube. The
first screen reads and works fine, but the Search Result screen about
half the time, I need to turn on Browse mode.

Guess the bottom line is that Yes, there is at least one other person
using 9.2 that finds Browse Mode to have its problems.

I continue to struggle with 9.2 as I wait for any updates or upgrades.

Hi Chris,

If I'm reading your message correctly, you are saying that your setting for
browse mode is "no" and so Window-Eyes is not turning browse mode on. But
if you want it to be on, you have to set it to "yes" for it to work
properly.

Subject: weird issue with browse mode

Hi guys
Like the subject line says, I'm having a weird issue with browse mode
that I've never seen before. Whenever a web page loads, I have to turn
browse mode on,just so I can read anything in the usual way. I have to
do the same thing in Thunderbird just so I can read a message. I've
checked in the WE control panel, and there's a radio button that says,
should browse mode be on by default? and global no is checked. However
it comes on when a web page loads...has anyone else seen this? I sure
haven't. I tried switching it to yes, and back to no again but that
didn't seem to help. This isn't a huge thing but every time I go to a
web page I have to take that extra step of turning browse mode on, but
it'd be nice to have it back to how it was before. Hope someone can make
sense of this lol.

Thanks guys! By the way, i'm running Window-eyes 9.2 on a windows 7
64-bit system.

Re: weird issue with browse mode

2015-11-07 Thread net bat via Talk

well, turn it on and save the set file. done.
and just because it says global doesn't mean every set file is set this way.
load thunderbird, i e or firefox. check that the correct set file is associated
with them. then check the browse mode settings for all of them and make sure
they are set to global and not program and check that should browse mode be on
by default is on,.
