We are edging more and more into a culture where everyone has to be
careful about what they say, and to who you say it. Even though some
much is said about being Tolerant, I find today there is less and less
tolerance.

when using your computer, always, and I do mean, always have the
understanding, that nothing on it, and anything you do on it, could be
seen by someone else. big Brother is watching, and has been watching,
and probably lots of Little Brothers too.

If you want real privacy, but still want to use the computer, guess you
will need to have two systems. One that is hooked up to the internet,
and another that is not, and never will be.

2015-08-01 Thread net bat via Talk
one thing everyone should do when they install windows 10 is do not use the
quick setup. use custom. then you will see 13 pages of privacy options you can
opt out of.
if you use the quick setup all of these options will be turned on by default. i
got this from the leo leport web page.

Windows 10 and the new Browser supposedly gives Microsoft much more feed
back as to how you use the computer, where you go on the web, what you
do when you are there, and what you buy. I imagine anything written in
MS Office, whether it be a Spread Sheet, or a Document, is probably
available to those who wish to view the contents of these files.

If you own a Small business, you might wish to keep some things of your
business privet. do you really want a flood of Bankruptcy lawyers
sending you their Electronic Business Cards, letting you know, their
Services are available? All because someone was able to peek at your
Quick Book files?

or maybe you were stupid enough to buy some Sex Toy On Line, and now an
ad pops up when your best friend, who is a bad Gossiper, is borrowing
your lap top to do some work of his own.

Or maybe your friend writes a fiery letter off to a Politician, but
because it was written on your machine, those watchers think you are the
one who wrote the nasty letter, and not your friend.

We are edging more and more into a culture where everyone has to be
careful about what they say, and to who you say it. Even though some

Well the privacy issues that every one is worrying is the way that all these
voice assistant apps collect data in order to better assist you. Do you
think sierri, google now have all the info from no where they have to
collect all the data points and info so that they can bea better assistant.
Cortana is no where different in the voice assistant approach.

Well said, and it has nothing to do with Win 10 specifically. Win 8.1 and

Do you really think those ads you come across every where are there just to

Even though some
much is said about being Tolerant, I find today there is less and less
tolerance.

when using your computer, always, and I do mean, always have the
understanding, that nothing on it, and anything you do on it, could be
seen by someone else. big Brother is watching, and has been watching,
and probably lots of Little Brothers too.

If you want real privacy, but still want to use the computer, guess you
will need to have two systems. One that is hooked up to the internet,
and another that is not, and never will be.

Re: windows 10 are you willing to give up your privacy?

2015-08-01 Thread Keith Hinton via Talk
In today's Internet connected world, I believe that privacy died a
long time ago honestly. We have never had it. And we never will. Sites
most of them sell infomration, and rent them out to other companies,
as part of data collection practices. The NSA has been spying on us
for over 10 years. So, do I personally believet hat we still have any
privacy at all? No. Now, do some times and people protect our privacy
with them for hwatever they do? Most certainly. But remember this. The
Intenret is a public resource. So, if you truely want privacy, turn
off your computers, stop using your cards, go back to cash or paper
checks, sshut down all bank accounts, etc. Only speak to people once
you've looked around for bug tracking devices, etc. Think on that.
