Hi Peter,

First, press Escape several times to ensure that you are not editing a cell
or are in any menu.

Then, arrow keys move you around the spreadsheet.

Hth,

Rod

To unprotect a file I usually go to the properties of the file before
opening it and in the "General" tab page, I tab to "Unblock", press enter
or spacebar and that usually unprotects it.

Hello

Unfortunately, this doesn't appear to work on my machine. After
pressing f6 followed by space f2 I get the same message about protected
mode. Many thanks though for taking the time to reply.

I've tried it several times but as soon as I press f2 I get the warning
about protected mode again.

Perhaps I am going about this in the wrong way. All I want to do is to
be able to cursor across names and scores. Unfortunately because names
are ocasionally spelt wrongly, searching for a name doesn't always
work. Consequently, I have to tab and cursor until I can find the name
I want. That is when I need to be able to read the name letter by
letter because I need to find it several more times. The spread sheet
is the results from an acoustic shooting competition which has anything
from 60 to 100 competitors and each name will appear multiple times.

I hope that makes sense because it felt like a rant.

Thanks but I have tried it without the space and still no luck.

I have been working down through the file menu to options and then trusted, as

I may have to wait for sighted assistance.

Hello

When I press F2, I get the message that this is a protected file.  My
only option then is an "ok" button.  If I ignore the "ok" button and
press F6 absolutely nothing is spoken or is accessible.  If after the
warning about protect mode, I hit "ok" and then press F6 I get a drop
down list which consits of:

normal pressed

page layout

page break preview

zoom out

zoom in

zoom 100%

and then I am back to normal.  I can't find unprotect anywhere.

Just to confirm, I am using Win10 with WE 9.5.4 and Office 365.

Subject: Re: Reading cells and fields in xl

Hello Rod

Thanks but I have tried it without the space and still no luck.

I have been working down through the file menu to options and then trusted, as
recommended by John. However, Window-eyes won't allow me to check or uncheck
the boxes which seem to have something to do with my problem.

I may have to wait for sighted assistance.

Best wishes

Mike.

RE: Reading cells and fields in xl

2019-08-11 Thread madl--- via Talk
When you press F2, does your PC says something like "this file is protected
mode "? Then you should hear something like " to unprotect press F6". After
pressing F6 you should get a drop menu and arrow donw to get to unprotect.
These are the steps I take when I get a file that is protected. This work
for word, excel and any MS office files.
Good luck

I'm only guessing. Have you tried with the file highlighted, not open,
and doing a right click and looking under properties and see if there is
anything there to unprotect or make the file not a a read only? Just a
thought.

Re: Reading cells and fields in xl

2019-08-11 Thread Mike via Talk

Hello

Unfortunately, this doesn't appear to work on my machine.  After
pressing f6 followed by space f2 I get the same message about protected
mode.  Many thanks though for taking the time to reply.

Best wishes

Mike.
