To unprotect a file I usually go to the properties of the file before opening it and in the "General" tab page, I tab to "Unblock", press enter or spacebar and that usually unprotects it. -Original Message- From: Mike via Talk Sent: Sunday, August 11, 2019 4:11 PM To: Moe Adl via Talk Cc: Mike Subject: Re: Reading cells and fields in xl Hello Unfortunately, this doesn't appear to work on my machine. Hello When I press F2, I get the message that this is a protected file. My only option then is an "ok" button. If I ignore the "ok" button and press F6 absolutely nothing is spoken or is accessible. If after the warning about protect mode, I hit "ok" and then press F6 I get a drop down list which consits of: normal pressed page layout page break preview zoom out zoom in zoom 100% and then I am back to normal. I can't find unprotect anywhere. Just to confirm, I am using Win10 with WE 9.5.4 and Office 365. Mike. Re: Reading cells and fields in xl
Hello When I press f6 the only option I get is to allow editing, which doesn't work, or close. I've tried it several times but as soon as I press f2 I get the warning about protected mode again. Perhaps I am going about this in the wrong way. All I want to do is to be able to cursor across names and scores. Unfortunately because names are ocasionally spelt wrongly, searching for a name doesn't always work. Consequently, I have to tab and cursor until I can find the name I want. That is when I need to be able to read the name letter by letter because I need to find it several more times. The spread sheet is the results from an acoustic shooting competition which has anything from 60 to 100 competitors and each name will appear multiple times. I hope that makes sense because it felt like a rant. Best wishes Mike. On 11/08/2019 14:42, madl--- via Talk wrote: Yes , all you have to do is as follow. Have you tried with the file highlighted, not open, and doing a right click and looking under properties and see if there is anything there to unprotect or make the file not a a read only?
