Re: [Talk-br] OpenStreetMap Brasil - Capítulo Brasileiro do OSM
Re: [OSM-talk] Converting OSM roads to GIS dataset (Queensland, Australia)
I usually first extract the pbf file to a PostgreSQL database using osm2pgsql. Then connect to the DB using any GIS software. In osm2pgsql you can specify a bounding box and which features you want to extract to the DB, to speed up the process. - Original Message - From: nicholas.g.lawre...@tmr.qld.gov.au Sent: 09/03/13 02:23 AM To: Talk Openstreetmap, talk...@openstreetmap.org Subject: [OSM-talk] Converting OSM roads to GIS dataset (Queensland, Australia) Hello all, I'm trying to convert the Queensland, Australia OSM roads into a GIS format (esri shape or mapinfo) using GDAL 1.10 I downloaded a .osm.pbf file for australia from http://download.geofabrik.de/australia-oceania/australia.html I'm only really after the geometry that represents roads. So I don't need the points or polygons. Does anyone have any suggestions about any arguments I can put into my GDAL command to restrict translation to only what I consider relevant? For example, the argument -spat 136 -31 156 should restrict import to a bounding box that approximately represents Qld. I would appreciate advice on; - what geometry layer suits my purposes - how to specify that in a GDAL argument Kind regards, *Nick Lawrence* Senior Spatial Science Officer | Geospatial, Road Design Competency *Engineering Technology Branch* | Department of Transport and Main Roads - Floor 19 | Brisbane City - 313 Adelaide Street | 313 Adelaide Street | Brisbane City Qld 4000 GPO Box 1412 | Brisbane City Qld 4001 P: (07) 30667977 | F: (07) 30668998 E: nicholas.g.lawre...@tmr.qld.gov.au W: www.tmr.qld.gov.au http://www.tmr.qld.gov.au/ *** WARNING: This email (including any attachments) may contain legally privileged, confidential or private information and may be protected by copyright.
[OSM-talk] OSM software
Hello. OSM has already been proved as the ultimate tool for collaborative mapping. Is there a way someone could use the same platform to work on private mapping colaboration projects ? To explain myself better: In the wiki case, you can download the MediaWiki software, install it on your server and run your own private wiki for gathering, assembling and organizing information within your workgroup. Is there a way to do the same with the OSM software ? I just joined and NGO that works with volunteers from all over the world and it would be really great for us if we could use the OSM system to create our own maps and discuss about it. Of course we could do it directly on the OSM database, but as we are in an experimental phase, we would be messing up the OSM database. Once our maps are concluded, we could then insert the relevant parts of our work on OSM. skualos ___ talk mailing list talk@openstreetmap.org http://lists.openstreetmap.org/listinfo/talk
Re: [OSM-talk] OSM software
Thanks Jaime. I think this is still beyond my reach right now. I have no experience in development or coding. I was thinking that maybe there was some simpler solution. Maybe some day. I think it would be of great value for the GIS people to have such tool at hands. - Original Message - From: Jaime Crespo Sent: 03/09/12 04:37 PM To: Stephane Goldstein Subject: Re: [OSM-talk] OSM software 2012/3/9 Stephane Goldstein s@gmx.com: Hello.
