Re: [OSM-talk-be] questions on Bxl osmose issues

2016-09-10 Thread Marc Gemis
Hallo Marc,

Don't know that much about busses, I assume others (Jo ?) will reply to this.
But you could ask (as a changeset comment) why they changed the names
so they do no longer comply with the Belgian "rules".
This is often the best way to understand a certain change. They other
just have to guess the intent of the mapper that actually made the
change.

As for streets represented by different ways, there might be good
reasons to have separate ways:
- different characteristics : surface, maxspeed, ...
- only a part of the street is part of a route (bus, cycle, hiking, etc.)

I don't see differences in this particular case, but I might have
overlooked one. But in general, you do not need to take the time to
remerge a street that is split in several ways.

[OSM-talk-be] questions on Bxl osmose issues

2016-09-10 Thread Bessières , Marc
Hello,

I've started looking at Osmose issues in my neighbourhood

I started with the errors about missing name:nl and name:fr as I can go
and check easily.

I'd like to have some feedback on the data in OSM.

1) 2 Bus stops:

If I read correctly
http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/WikiProject_Belgium/Conventions/Bus_stops

The name shall be equivalent to name:nl - name:fr (or name:fr -
name:nl), and when I look at the history, it used to be like that.

But a massive changeset called "automated correction of bus stop names
and operator (with DeLijn info 17/11/13)" changed it, and now this
doesn't match.

Shall I make them match or there is a reason to keep their name like
that?

http://osmose.openstreetmap.fr/fr/error/7977061300

http://www.openstreetmap.org/node/502959019

2) one bus relation, I checked several STIB/MIVB relations and each time
the name starts with STIB/MIVB line number and then name:fr - name:nl

but I find nothing in the wiki explaining it
http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/WikiProject_Belgium/Conventions/Bus_and_tram_lines

Did I miss the piece of information about the reason why the naming is
different than usual?

http://osmose.openstreetmap.fr/fr/error/7977066814

http://www.openstreetmap.org/relation/6236544 [1]

3) I wanted to create the name:fr and name:nl for Quai aux Briques -
Baksteenkaai

And I noticed there were 3 errors in Osmose because there are 3
different ways with exactly the same tags and connected to each other.

Is it normal? Or should they be merged together?

http://www.openstreetmap.org/way/30272973

http://www.openstreetmap.org/way/12818280

http://www.openstreetmap.org/way/30272972

I realize now that this is quite a big mail, I hope it is ok to send
several questions in one go.

Cheers,

Marc
