Also note that in some places the ecclesiastical parish boundaries are disjoint from the legal parish boundaries used as bottom tier of local government. This is probably most common in Unitary Authority regions, particularly London. -- Regards, Thomas Wood (Edgemaster) ___ Talk-GB mailing list Talk-GB@openstreetmap.org http://lists.openstreetmap.org/listinfo/talk-gb

Often the *only* source of this information is the OS derived dataset that the Church Commissioners use. I'm confident that I'm one of only 4-5 people who could draw anything like the parish boundary of St Aldate's Oxford from memory, and that's only because we have refered to the Church Commissioner's OS maps when border-line requests have come in for reading of Banns/etc. If the vicar, church staff and parishioners don't know where the boundary is ("local knowledge"), then the only people that do are the OS and Church Commissioners. [Talk-GB] Parish boundaries
The Church Commissioners have up-to-date information about the parish boundaries in England & Wales and they have a website [1] showing parish boundaries. I have seen some parish boundaries have started to appear based on NPE maps. In many cases the boundaries have changed in the 50+ years since the NPE maps were printed - I can see this on modern OS maps but I can't, of course, use these modern data. I wrote to the Church Commissioners asking if they would donate their parish boundary data to OSM, but today the reply: "I regret that it is not our policy to not make our data available on websites which are not maintained by the National Church Institutions. " Does anyone know any other source of this info that is available and up-to-date?
