[talk-ph] Startup Weekend Manila October 21-23, 2011
Anyone going to this? http://manila.startupweekend.org/ Startup Weekend is an intense 54 hour event which focuses on building a web or mobile application which could form the basis of a credible business over the course of a weekend. The weekend brings together people with different skillsets - primarily software developers, graphics designers and business people - to build applications and develop a commercial case around them. Who will I see there? Regards, Andre ___ talk-ph mailing list talk-ph@openstreetmap.org http://lists.openstreetmap.org/listinfo/talk-ph

True, i might be better after to just compile the GPS tracks to one person who might want to do a visualization or else, we just have fun after and relax and make kwento. Maybe teach some of the newcomers on a laptop etc. I agree with that post though for newcomers, an introduction to the project and mapping should be given and what were are going to do. Those who know what goes on are fine but the new ones probably have no idea what were going to do or whos going to do what or who are the teams etc. Or theyre just sitting around waiting while we organize everything, so some overview of the activities for the day would be good. ___ talk-ph mailing list talk-ph@openstreetmap.org http://lists.openstreetmap.org/listinfo/talk-ph

Yes interesting topic. In my research on this for the OSM page, I found that its subjective to include the City in the name, usually it makes sense to include it for places where there is a province or municipality of the same name. technically speaking the official name is 'Lungsod ng Manila etc' which should translate to City of So yes including City in the Name is the right way to do it, but its not necessary in regular real life applications. A follow up, stopped following up on this after Ondoy, but to get us back on track so far only out of the 5 incorporators, 2 have not yet submitted their information so I can not even generate the docs needed for signing. Please Marloue and Ronny if you can get me your info quickly so I can generate the docs and we can get to the long part which is fulfilling the requirements :) Thanks, Andre --- Hi, Ok so we finally have all the incorporators and officers together. Eugene agreed to be President, and I will be Tres/Sec. So from everyone who agreed to be an incorporator here I need the following information to proceed with the preparation of papers: - Full Name - Address - Cedula (Community Tax Certificate, usually costs PHP5 at the Barangay, if a Corporation might cost PHP500 at mayors office) - TIN (Tax ID or Passport if Foreign or not in the country) Once I have this information we can proceed with the signing which may be complicated because of our locations but not impossible. [talk-ph] Draft MoA between the OSM-F and any possible localchapter
What would be the point of paying? It says a local chapter can use the logo and osm domain and promote osm. Isnt counter-productive to charge an organization which wants to help improve OSM locally by its own resources/costs? A per member fee is rather high, maybe a low chapter fee would be ok, but what do they need the fees for anyway? Its just like a way of saying this one is officially recognized. Also for paying that fee what does the local chapter get in return? Do we get like gps units, documents, paraphernalia? Stuff that helps us? Anyway I know its all still under discussion but I think it wouldnt be worth paying unless there is just reason and the members here agree to it. ___ talk-ph mailing list talk-ph@openstreetmap.org http://lists.openstreetmap.org/listinfo/talk-ph

Was wondering when you guys wanted to do this, most people are favorable, not everyone answered even after multiple queries so the best I can say is that those who post most here are for it. As for the OSM-F doc, its just a doc, we dont need to have something like that, it would be something to sign between the org and osm-f if osm-f requires it for them to recognize us as an official member. If we want to move forward with this, we need 5 signatories as is required to setup a corporation. What this requires is a Cedula and TIN and that you sign the corporate documents. Also we need board members, specifically a treasurer who signs the bank titf and a corporate secretary who signs all the other stuff. Treasurer and Secretary can be one person but may not be the president I believe. So far we'll sign as 1 incorporator, please put your name in the list if you wish to be an incorporator and or if you wish to be board member or wish to nominate someone for the board, I nominate Maning for President :) Incorporators 1.)
