Here is one line to contribute to the thread. But with the inclusion of a
couple more words to extend it that much more I think you might find unless
your browser has an extremely long line-length, it may manage to wrap across
two - possibly three as it were.

I really should start updating my lj, the WDGLFM forum, or both.
If I'm not careful the actual station "WDGLFM" may rank higher in google,
and we can't have a real thinggy dominating me like that.

Its already bad enough that there is a PDAudio as well.

Re: The Talk2 List new facebook is a pile

2008-09-24 Thread Hayden Smith
Just so I can put my few cents worth in here:
. Though the new facebook may be trying, there are certain little features that
jaws users - it is this market that I target in particular being a user myself
- have ignored, though being slightly more arduous than others. Firstly, the
news feed from what I can see has little graphics dotting a lot of the little
articles which you could navigate with G and Shift=G - although I think that
whinging about little things of pressing the arrow keys is quite immaterial.
. If you are finding the lack of headings a problem, establish a permanant
placemarkers set for specific points in the page to which you can jump between.
. If such avenues become too difficult you can - as previously mentioned - use
things like M.facebook.com which without the nice fancy things the established
facebook has allow with simple rendering your ease of use.
I'm not sitting here and advocating that the new facebook is bad or good or the
lack of vision of users I'm simply stating some methods that you might use to
get around a tricky situation. However, the amount of users who dislike the new
facebook hasn't been entirely unnoticed because at least 1,500,000 has
attracted the media's attention here in Australia.

i guess that's a valid point, but come on. How hard would it have been for
them to put in some heading navigation? Having to scroll through all that
excess garbage really detracts from my enjoyment of the site.

At the risk of starting a blindy uprising, I'd venture to guess that the
reason why nothing has shown up in blindy lists in the online universe, is
because other than the headings being taken out, (which is probably the only
valid gripe that people disliking the new fb have,) it really comes down to
something as simple as folks not liking a change and being ripped out of their
comfort zone.

They're not gonna change it back guys, so get over it.

Yes... The profile page is kinda nasty in spots, and removing
applications is sort of a pain in the almighty asshole, but it's still totally
doable.
Personally I like what they did with the news feed by making it in a
chronological order, and they needed to have it so you could comment on
statuses... That one was a long time in coming.
If you really feel the needfor something easier and faster, you can check
out m.facebook.com in Firefox, but (at least I can't anyway) access the
applications that way.

There are several I'm sure, but those who took the time probably
complained with the hundreds who have already done so.
Thing is, I'm not for playing the blind card usually, but if I could
talk/write to someone withpower, explaining why the old facebook was nice,
rather than just saying how bad the new one is, I may hopefully make an
impression.
Like you, I must confess that I am surprised that one of the hard core

The Talk2 List Rejected Relms (Scifi and Fantacy on Demand) - Friday, September 28, 2007

2007-09-27 Thread Hayden Smith
Hello all,
This is just a quick heads up for everyone in regards to a show that has just
returned to TBRN. Enjoy audio drama? Like to hear stories from beyond our
mundane reality? Well tune in at 6 AM eastern, Mondays and Fridays to hear two
top notch sci-fi audio dramas, as well as commentary from your hosts, JDX and
psychorabbit, both of whom have extensive background in both audio drama and
science fiction. We will be mixing the clasics which everyone knows and loves
with things no one has heard before, but we can promise you only the best, and
we certainly have something to please anyone.

This week we started with two cutting edge new dramas. The first, Jefferson 37,
tells the story of the world's first cloning institution, harking back to the
clasics with minimalist production and a familiar toan. The second drama we are
playing is the first in a series which takes sci-fi in new directions. It is
essencially a ghost story, chronicling the investigations of Sapphire and
Steel, two enigmatic detectives in time. The first story we are playing is "The
Passenger", a murder mystery on a train heading for an unknown destination, but
whose passengers are all already dead.

We try to provide a variety of different types of stories and to prove this, we
have started with two very different dramas, one light and one very dark. In
this way, we hope to keep u interested and entertained. Contact our hosts on
air with your comments and suggestions.

Just point your media player of choice to http://tbrn.net:/tbrn.ogg and
enjoy the right.

The Talk2 List Pick Up, Throw Around and Throw Away - Suspended for a certain period of time

2007-04-11 Thread Hayden Smith
Greetings,
Though my broadcasts in the past have been intermittent, I have always had the
broadcasting ethic in mind. However, due to networking problems and general
instability, I think it would be good for me, you and all the cheese in the
world if I put this project aside for a period of time until a point where I am
in an RJ45 environment and have stable network conuctivity. I estimate this to
be in late juneo to early July. However, I will attempt to sustain Rejected
Relms as much as is possible and if this proves to be an impossible venture
from my point of view, then I will attempt to find other means of this project.
But for now, Pick Up, Throw Around and Throw Away is on hiatus.

Regards,
Hayden

wow, Chris; this was harsh!
I can understand you guys being annoyed if someone is displaying obsessive
behaviour but it's an internet radio station; not as if she is stalking
anyone! Isn't the point of these stations to have listeners, callers and
fans?
I did like Derek's quote though; that when she calls into Patrick's show
she goes "ga ga" (or something), but if she was seriously harassing him,
I'm sure he'd react accordingly.

Right now, I see no problem especially if she's contributing financially.
OK there may be some history I certainly don't know about but is bullying
the way to go here?

Cheers!

clear up that i do not under any circumstance feel that I either set, have
become, or even want to be the standard for blind people in general, let
alone those in my age group. Further more, I don't feel that I am at all
better, nore am I one of the more fortunate people afflicted with a visual
disability. You're wasting your time and the time of others i'm sure by
posting this kind of pointlessness on talk2. MOre to the point, if you
really want to stay in the good graces of your favorite TBRN radio
personality, I speculate that some breathing room for him and yourself is
in order. You live much too far away from him in terms of geography to be

My god, I would have to second, third and fourth
this. Before you start making allegations on a public mailing-list, I would make
sure that you  know the "whole story" before shooting your mouth off about
things that you don't even understand. Note the programs name "team TALK". It is
designed for team conferencing not streaming live content. If you wish to show a
friend some music or something like that, I suggest you find a low-budget
shoutcast solution. If you are trying to make the world judge you in a manner
that reflects stupidity and incompetence, then you are surely  going about
it the right way.

If I break any rules with this message, I apologize in advance. It's been
a

while since I posted to some of these lists.

I am selling an Index Basic S embosser. It's brand new, used only twice
and is in good working condition. It comes by default with Win Braille
software, connection cables, and a Braille setup guide that helps you
configure your computer to use the embosser. It connects via USB, serial,
and some other types of connections.

Am asking $2500 or best offer for this unit.
Please contact me at [EMAIL PROTECTED] if you are interested and feel
free to forward this on to anyone who might need this machine.

Thanks, Maria

Re: The Talk2 List USB Storage Devices

2006-06-20 Thread Hayden Smith
I consider myself very very lucky in a sense as I have a maxtor dedicated
80GB external harddrive which has worked i think for the past 2 years and it
still chugs along. I had one bad-sector on it once which crashed the whole
drive and the same with my WD but that was due to my computer injecting
random things into both of the drives. However, I have found that WD is a
very reliable company and I really should try some Seagate. I haven't
actually touched them before, but from what you have said Patrick, they are
a really good buy and worth looking at. Next year I need to go and get a
320GB harddrive as that is going to be a mirror drive to which my two
externals (Maxtor (80GB) and WD (200GB)" and other things will be backed up
onto. I never had a backup and I really should get one soon!

Or a seagate! Yay seagate!
I've had problems with every last drive manufacturer, but I've had the
least amount of problems with seagate, or at least the newer drives.
They really did used to be crap, but now they aren't anymore.
Also, you get a 5-year manufacturer's warranty with any new Seagate
drive you get. Mind you, WD gives you a 3-year one, which I've had to
use on a few occasions. I'm not even sure if Maxtor gives you a
warranty. All the Maxtor drives I've had that died had to be returned
through mwave, while the WD drives were sent and returned from WD
themselves.

It seems that Seagate and Maxtor/x-quantom have switched places in the
crap department.
It used to be that Seagate drives were noisy, and would die if you even
thought about blowing on them, especially around the 1 to 8 GB era.

Quantom drives used to be rather good and reliable. I've got a 10 GB
quantom fireball that I got in 1998, and it's still working just fine --
no bad sectors or anything like that.
I've even got a couple of 260 MB Quantom drives from the early 90's
which both work fine as well.
But then, Quantom decided to make the Bigfoot, which was a really bad
idea. Then they were bought by Maxtor, which was a worse idea!!! Cringe!

They were always the first to come out with big drives. 1998 saw the
Maxtor 30 GB drives, which were a really nice flop at the time, as they
kept dying, and dying, and dying. I have friends that could tell you all
kinds of horror stories about the earliest 30 and 40 GB drives in a
server environment...

You guys all know by now all the fun I've had with Maxtor, and some
other people's fun with Maxtor as well.
For those of you who still have working maxtor drives (including myself,
unfortunately), consider yourselves lucky!

Well, mwave of course, or newegg. Their prices are usually very close.
I like the layout of mwave.com better than newegg, and I've been
shopping there for over four years.
Newegg does usually have slightly better prices than mwave, but a lot of
the time it's very negligable. Sometimes, though, Newegg makes mwave's
prices go "ert!"

Anything other than Lacie or Maxtor
will probably be ok.

Dedicated external drives tend to cost a little more than internal
drives+external enclosures, but they're easier to deal with.

1. There is a detailed help section in the gmail help sections on how to set

You know, you can't deny the logic there. Unless you put an incorrect string
there which would make your program loop and then eventually crash after the
RAM ran out of active memory whilst sending this looping program at everyone
on talk2 making them all spin into a void of nothingness.

I have a brand new Cad C195, never opened. This is a very nice hand
held vocal mic.
Stunningly clean, transparent response!
The CAD C195 is a superior low-noise, electret condenser cardioid
microphone designed
for professional vocalists and musicians. It provides the performance
and features
to satisfy today's most demanding professionals.
Its wide, flat-frequency response provides unsurpassed natural
transparent sound.
The cardioid pickup pattern minimizes annoying feedback and reduces
the pickup of
unwanted off-axis sounds. A transformerless electronic design
provides optimum low-frequency
response and low distortion. An effective internal multistage pop
filter minimizes
wind and breath noise.
The CAD C195 has a Flex-Form hardened steel grille screen that
dramatically resists
deformation while greatly reducing any risk of adverse performance
caused by a bent
or dented ball screen. This unique ability to retain its original
shape assures that
the CAD C195 will maintain its attractive appearance.
The C195 features the CAD exclusive (I.N.R.-3) Impact Noise Rejection
system. A proprietary
rubber shock mount isolates the transducer from the barrel, thus
dramatically reducing
cable, stand, and handling noise. The need for any external shock
mounting device
is virtually eliminated.
The low-frequency response of the CAD C195 may be enhanced by
increasing or decreasing
the distance from the sound source. This phenomenon is technically
known as "proximity
effect . Nominal or "flat response is generated at a distance of 24
inches or more.
However, as the distance to the sound source decreases, the bass
sensitivity increases,
providing a solid, robust character.
This comes with carrying case and microphone mount. It doesn't
include an XLR cable. Asking $55 plus $5 shipping. I take paypal or check.

Re: Re[2]: The Talk2 List Fw: Congratulations.

2006-06-06 Thread Hayden Smith

Dear valued customer,

Unfortunately the lingerie line does not include socks. However, if you do
perchase two pares of socks and a hat-pin, you may receive a cracked copy of
Windows 9X. This may be exchanged for a copy of a program of your choise.

Regards,
Big Company inc.

Does lingerie include socks? Because two pairs of socks would be very
useful.
BTW how do you actually spell that word, why do French people have to
spell stuff so strangely, and can I exchange my cracked copy of Windows
Vista for a cracked copy of Adobe Photoshop Deluxe ultra visual edition
please?

Thanks and I will reply if I want to so handle it!

If not Scotland, then perhaps you could consider a nice, sea-side resort

Can we say software hacks, cracks and broken windows? Because if we can't at
this stage, we shouldn't at all.

Isn't it safe to say that Windows in general, or any other Gui, is
designed for sighted people? lol
Anyay, if they don't force it down my throat I'm not going out to find
Vista. Especially if I have to pay that much money for it.

Well as to vista I think it will own. Yes I am sighted and that is why I
am

saying it. Vista was designed for the sighted user with things such as
window previews 3D rotation and sidebars as well as the new colour
scheme.
So with all that vista will own in my opinion. But as to other aspects
other
then some security crap nothing has really changed. So in the end it is
up

to you. All I am going to say is don't hate on what you haven't tried.

Hey Guys,
What are the indications that Windows Vista will suck? Please
elucidate, for I am also pensive as to why we should be offered such a
new Windows thingy when XP just came out. What is it claiming to have
that XP doesn't, and why do you all not like it so far?

Well, as far as I'm concerned, windows vista will suck and lose, and
just totally be the utter blah.
Thus, I'm not upgrading.
If I can hang on too, and maintain a windows 98 machine for dos
things, then I can surely let this box and future versions of it,
run on xp for a jolly good long time.

Like, oh no! I feel sorry for myself because I only have an 8 MB
AGP card in one machine that I can't see, a 4 MB one in the other
one that I can't see, and two with 128 MB each that I still can't
see! Let's see...
Downstairs, I've got another card with dual VGA support and no
monitors hooked up to it. Why? Because I can't see it! Yeah, correct!
Oh yes, and I feel even sorrier for Farhan, who, because I am
cheap, has a 2 MB PCI card! Moohahahahahahahahahaha!
