Greetings All,

I have tried to backup The Bat, and I was told that there was an error
in the index file. I was told to delete the index file and re-read
the folders. So, where is the index file and what do I have to do to
re-read the folders?

You have to implement a feature to choose which AB entries would
generate a folder. I have several hundred contacts in a lot of different
groups and it would be a pain if TB! generated folders for all of these
contacts. Still, I like the idea (or Richard Anders suggested
alternative) but it would be useless without the possibility to choose
folders on an individual basis.

Hello Thomas,

TW Aren't that features which should be implement by Ritlabs?
Not completely. X-Face could be done by us, but Rogues need some
server code. So it must be done in pair - currently we discuss it with
Leif (his server and scripts - my embedding in TB!) and have some
ideas (one of them - using X-Rogue). Wait a little, it is not so easy
to make good co-work only by mail and with time leaks :)

TW Why is it necessary to manage the the images in a proper file
TW instead of using the images of the AB? :-/
Because
1. X-Face gives you possibility to add your
2. Possiblity of automatical download and synchronization (in AB you
need open it, select person, select file for photo (navigation through
disk), many OKs), X-Rogue is more lazy variant)
3. Person can be absent in your AB. As example: I have just some
TBBETA members in AB, but I like to see them no matter are they
presented in my address book or no.

Yes, I'm doing the same. But that's where the multiple addresses in ONE

Before you make plans on how to implement X-Rogue etc. ... wouldn't
it make much more sense to implement picons? They are displayed
depending on an TLD, domain, email address, ...

   http://ftp.cs.indiana.edu/pub/faces/picons/

... and X-Faces and Faces?

BTW these are the three kinds of icons you can see when using the
Gmane web frontend, such as in

Please don't implement any TB!-only features, ok? ;-)

Why not? They have no overhead in messages and don't change message
representation for non-TB! users, so there are no reasons to avoid
them.

The X-Face is a plugin yes. Right now it is only capable of displaying
the standard X-Face tags (black and white). I'm trying to convince
the author to let it display gif and jpg images too.

As for having people's images show up in messages, go to:

http://www.pcwize.com/thebat

and create an account. Then grab the Rogues.ZIP file and extract *all*
the files to your The Bat!/images folder.

Restart TB, then you'll be able to see peoples pictures in their
messages.

i.e. all those names surrounded by ::

Like my sig below.

I interpret this as yes. Thank you in advance for this very usefull
filter option! I think it make the folder synchronizer (at least the
create filter part) easier.

I might ask if the new filtermanager, the folder view and the virtuell
folders use the same filter engine and therefor the adress contact
option will be there too?

I'd like to hear also, whats up with the new filtermanager? Is it in
process, on the todo list or canceled?

At least, it would be great if you can tell me, if the new beta
(when?) will fix the bugs with the plugins
(mid:[EMAIL PROTECTED]) and the problems
mentioned in: mid:[EMAIL PROTECTED]

Thank you a lot for your answer (I like it to see, that the developer
listens (and even answers) to his users) and for your reply in
advance.

New Send functionality request

2004-06-24 Thread Foster, Graham
Hello tbbeta

I'm submitting this here (as I've lost my password access to BT!(again))

In the message create window I'd like to see a couple more options,
which integrate with the exiting scheduler functionality

  1) The option to directly specify a send after date time. The
idea would be that the received date in the Output could be
re-interpreted as a send after date time. When TB! next
connects, any messages due to be sent will be sent. Obviously the
default send date time for a new message is the same as the
message creation time. To set a different date, you would need some
for of calender button / option in the message creation window

  2) A new option when creating a message to Follow up..., which
would provide a simple (i.e. simpler than the current screens) to
specify a new message for followup as you create it. Currently, you
need to send it, find it, then mark it for followup, when you KNOW
you want to follow it up later as you are creating it.

Just my thoughts for improved facility / user interaction.

  Any comments?
