editing/adding to it, and got a huge AV when trying to send. Not only AV
when sending, but when trying to save, or save as, queue in outbox, or
anything. What a waste of composing time, on this lengthy email... geesh..

ZW Confirmed. I have this when checking if #2155 bug is fixing.
ZW Probably not, but I am unable see it. My AV is following:

ZW Access violation at address 00844662 in module 'thebat.exe'. Read of address

Confirmed! Same address AV, but read of address instead. It
happens every time when trying to compose a mail using the html/text

unsaved after clicking on the av warning.

I disagree. The normal user does not know why his emails do not
arrive. We geeks know about it.

IMO Ritlabs should modify the X-Mailer. The problem with hosters
blocking/classifying mails as SPAM from TB users is known but ignored.

See e. g. http://www.silverstones.com/thebat/spammer.html

GMX, one of the biggest German freemailers, does classify TB mails as
SPAM (when the X-Mailer is active).

For example, one month for everyone to really catch their breath, plan

Generally, this has been the case. Whenever 9Val releases the first

suspect the planning for the next beta series is coincidental with the

The cause of Bayesit freezes?

2004-09-16 Thread Roger Phillips
Hi All,

Because of my desire to use 'Selective Download ' filters I have been
trying to discover why using the selective.txt (ST) file produced by
Bayesit, causes mail downloads to freeze or otherwise malfunction.

Using TB v3.0.0.15 there are two distinct problems:

Problem 1.
Setting the filter to call Regex from the ST file causes the filter to
find a 'match' with EVERY message.

I suggest that the most likely cause of this is that the filter does
not actually access the ST file, thus setting the filter with 'blank'
regex. This will then match everything. This was an old bug which I
understood had been fixed!

Problem 2.
The filters do not seem to be able to handle the Regex written by
Bayesit.

a) I sent a message to myself with the Subject: Regextestmessage1
b) I set a filter with the following Condition:
   Header matches any of Regextestmessage1
c) When I tried to receive the message the filter successfully
detected and filtered the message.

Then I repeated the test with the filter condition set with Bayesit
style Regex:
  Header matches any of
(?x-i)[\r\t\s\,\;\:\/\=(\)\{\}\[\]\']Regextestmessage1[\r\t\s\,\;\:\/\=(\)\{\}\[\]\']

The download froze at the point where the filter started to
process the messages (7 of them)

There is nothing wrong with the Regex (it tests perfectly), but it
seems that the filter cannot work with it successfully.

Can anyone else confirm this?

I agree. Thunderbird and Mulberry do not allow more than one
client flag per message, and I don't know whether the IMAP RFP
even allows it. It certainly would be nice, however.

Re: BayesIt 0.6.3

2004-09-16 Thread Neal Laugman
Alexey,

 Version 0.6.3 (bugfix)
 * trainthread was rewritten due to avoid the vanishing of a part of a main base.
 - since b\w lists entered, only spam was autotrained, non-spam was just skipped.
 * more informative error messages (still testing).

This version is still beta, so, the exception catchers are still working. If
you see the bayesit error window which tells about trainthread, readbase,
train_the_base or TBP_Finalize, please, report it either here, either to my
private mail. I need it since I have no such errors with my base.

I know from past experience if I would try to install this, TB would
crash. I just replaced 0.6.00 with this one and started to get 100%
CPU usage and have reverted to v0.6.00 that was originally installed
with the V3 MSI installer. v0.6.00 as worked very well, but I am not
using any whitelist/blacklist.

Re: Bug 3.0.0.15: Last slected message not remembered in VFs

2004-09-16 Thread MAU
Hello Marcus,

If I select a message in a virtual folder and more to another folder,
when I come back to that virtual folder, the message selected is the
message last selected in the originating folder (i.e. the folder
used as a basis for the VF), not the message last selected in the VF.

Not confirmed, selection is remembered correctly over here.

Not confirmed here either. Working as usual.

I've confused filter and sorting rule. Can you review your message? Filter
is external plugin (bayesit, etc.). Sorting rule is a record in The Bat!
sorting office. Which the filter cannot work with it did you mean in your

This is obviously a bug in the code and should be fixed. Changing the
behavior of the TB when it occurs or changing the message is
ridiculous, IMO. It should be fixed and fixed right.

Betas and Encrypted Msg Base

2004-09-16 Thread Joseph N.
Somewhere around here I read that version 3's Pro flavor would have
an encrypted message base. I had downloaded the evaluation copy of
the Pro app that's on the Ritlabs main page, and I've put some Beta
versions on top of that. The latest on my machine is the latest
generally available, B15. The message base, however, is not
encrypted. When using Mailbag Assistant to look at a .tbb file, it's
all there in plain text. What's the story on this?

I was not suggesting that Bayesit has a problem. TB has a problem
using the Regex.

The filter is in The Bat!. Perhaps what you call a sorting rule?
