Hello MAU,

MAU wrote:

I use it a lot on my DUN connection at home. You see, in the office we
receive a lot of documents that in earlier times would be faxed, thus
being large PDF files. We have broadband at the office and anyway, I
download from the POP server on the LAN, so size is no problem.

At home, I use a DUN connection, and I don't usually need to see these
mails with the large attachments. Sometimes I do, so the relatively
new "download URL" comes in very handy.

How do I tell whether I need to download that mail with all the
attachments? I scroll down to the subject line and see what it's
about. Now, with TB 3.65.01, I don't need to do that any more, very
convenient.

(By the way, with Eudora I can also download the first x number of
lines in the body. Sometimes I do want to read the text but don't care
for the attachments. So with TB, I need to download the whole mail
with attachments, but Eudora will already show me the first 20 lines
or whatever I've put in my settings. That's even better, but I'm not
complaining.)

There is a small (minor, cosmetic) thing I would like to mention about
the subject line.

The original subject is:

PRE-ALERT

It becomes:

[LARGE MESSAGE] PRE-ALERT (Large message arrived to your address)

I think one mentioning of "Large message" would be enough. The part at
the end in parenthesis (round brackets) is now superflous methinks.

I thought that you meant the file structure of the message base, that
was about five years ago.
The other changes were
  v1 -> v2 folder info changed from account.flx -> .flb (Sept 2003)

  v2 -> v3 account info changed from account.cfg -> .cfn (Sept 2004)
sorting office changed from account.srx -> .srb

AFAIK the changes implemented by v3 can still be done automatically by
v3, but I'm not absolutely sure about that.
Anyway, I don't know whether you still remember the account settings,
but the messages can be imported with:
  Tools -> Import...

Irrelevant, pressing CTRL-SHIFT-ALT-T a "Settings" window pops up. I assume
this could be used for setting attribute values for multiple folders in one
step. However the attribute values cannot be changed. This is an interesting
concept
and IIRC I had seen this window in an older (2.xx) version.

Are there any plans to make it official? I think that the concept is pretty
useful.

This allows your readers, when replying, to quote your text without
the signature and list footers since everything below and including
the sig delimiter is excluded when quoting.

You can easily automate this process by including the sig delimiter in
your templates.

Even if you barely have a signature to speak of, that doesn't make any
difference to whether or not you need a cut mark. You are being
courteous to other readers since at least three lines of text is added
to your signature by the list server.

To find out why these MOD messages are posted to the list instead of
private mail, please read the welcome message you received when you

What you could do, is to enable message list tabs.
Next you assign your different machine dependant view modes to their
own tab. When you're running on a certain machine, you pick the tab
that's configured for that view. When you switch between folders the
same message list tab will stay selected, so that's almost what you
want.

Exactly. Try a Laptop alternately with and without a docking station
(and a larger monitor while on the station). In my case, the problem
stems from more than one computer using the same mail directory which
also contains the information which view mode should be used for each
folder and how this view mode is composed. If this information was
stored in the registry, my problem would be solved. The "laptop-version"
of the problem still would not be, though.

But it's not possible to activate a view mode based on the machine used
to view an account, only based on the account being viewed. If that's
the same and the machines are different, all the workarounds don't
really work.

Maybe I am missing something, but you can have different view modes on
different computers. I read my e-mail on 3 different computers and
each computer has a slightly different view mode set up for each
folder depending on the size of the monitor. The only problem I would
see is if you have one computer that is sharing different monitors.

Once you have a view mode set up on a given computer you can share it
by using Options/Preferences/Messages/Viewmode/Use By.

as I got no outbound connection. They are working on it today to see
what might be wrong. Hopefully, not the IP address because I'd have to

No. You can just change the Global view mode - and all view modes are
changed. One place, almost just one click.

If you mean assigning "default" individual view modes for when you are
at your main screen resolution, you can use the Use By... button in View
mode setup in Preferences.

Not a bad idea indeed, thanks.

It's no permanent solution though, every time I want to access a
folder I would have to do this:

- select folder
- switch view mode
- select other folder
- come back to the folder to see changed view mode

... and this for every folder, on every access after I switched
machines. I could hire a seperat employee just for this.

Almost everything else is saved to the registry. Can a view mode be
automatically selected according to the local registry?

What about macros: Is it possible to automatically run a macro on

and selectthe apropriate viewmode. Is there such a thing?
