Re[2]: status of IMAP support?

2006-08-11 Thread Fabio Muzzi

Sorry for having generated quite a flame war about the IMAP topic.

Since I'm in need to read all of my mail (about 150.000 messages in
three accounts and lots of folders) from more than one client
(webmail, PC with TB!, Qtek9000 smartphone) I think that IMAP is the
only way to go.

I'll try installing dovecot and copying all of my message base from TB
to the imap folders, then I'll try running some test with the latest
TB! (I'm running quite an old release now), and then I'll add my voice
to the chorus of the happy or of the disgruntled people, depending on
results.

In the meantime, every suggestion about DO's and DON'Ts of IMAP and
TB! is welcome.

Re: Un-install wizard doesn't completely remove files

2006-08-11 Thread Raymund Tump
Hi Perry!

I was surprised that TB!'s installation wizard did not remove those
files, as I had instructed it to.

While this issue isn't technically about the current Beta, it does
appear to be one that should be resolved, if it is a bug, before the
   next release.

First the files or at least most of them weren't installed.

Second if they were installed and you work as a non privileged user
they aren't in the scope of the Windows Installer. As the installation
was done as administrator.

So I don't think that will be fixed as it is a bit hard to do without
tweaking the complete installation.

Hello ALL,
The AGAVA AntispamServant Regula Plugins are working great. Zero
false postives. Maybe get 1-2 spams in e-mail boxes a week. My

kaspersky plugin works great. It is a little slow but I have it set
at max. It has caught all kind of viru, trojans, redirects, etc. Can

Hi Raymund,

RT tweaking the complete installation.

Thanks for your reply, Raymund. As people such as you have contributed
their thoughts, my understanding of the issue I was facing has been
refined (mostly corrected, actually). And, by the way, I was operating
with administrative rights when I was making the changes, of course.

As it turned out, my problems were actually not so much with the
un-install/re-install process as with the residual, corrupt message
base files and how the new installation failed because of them.

The text of the message in this dialog ...

  http://img520.imageshack.us/my.php?image=uninstalldialogth5.png

... implies that message base would be removed during the un-install.
That is apparently not correct if the installation is an OTFE install
or if the user chose to install the message base in some
  non-standard location.

As a result of the several comments people have made to this thread,
I've come to think the actual problem is how TB! handles the situation
where a file in the message base is corrupt. As Peter, I think it was,
said, it would be preferable if TB! gave a message to the effect,
I've encountered a problem using the existing message base. Would you
like to start the program without that message base? Yes/No/Cancel.
That way, one could get into the program and restore from a backup.

An even more elegant solution, as a secondary trouble shooting step,
might be to allow accessing the message base one account at a time and
then one folder at a time until you encountered the problem account
or folder, but that might be a bit much to ask.
