Problems downloading messages
Hi, after moving back to Germany I tried to download all messages from the mailinglists. With MailWasher I see all messages, but after downloading with TheBat I get only a few of these messages because TheBat closes automatically. Why? What can I do? I have only changed the version of TheBat and nothing else within programs. I only have to use here an other kind of DSL-modem! -- Best regards, Roland mailto: [EMAIL PROTECTED] I use The Bat! v3.86.03 ALPHA (beta) under Windows XP 5.1 Build 2600 Service Pack 2! Have you ever missed the possibility of assigning more than 1 Colour Group?
Hello all, Ever since many years ago I moved to TB from my beloved Virtual Access I have missed a feature VA had, Bookmarks. At first sight, if you know what VA's Bookmarks did, you may think that TB's Colour Groups do exactly the same. But this is only true at first sight. The difference is that in TB you assign Colour Groups to messages and in VA you assigned messages to Bookmarks. And what this actually means is that you can ONLY assign one Color Group to a message while in VA you could assign a message to several Bookmarks. I have about 20 Color Groups defined in TB and there are many times that I would want to assign 2 or 3 (or more) C.G. to a message and this way appear in 2 or 3 (or more) of the Common VFs that I use to display all messages in a CG. Why can't a message belong to the categories (Color Groups) 'Important', 'Waiting Response', 'For Reference?, 'Offers', or whatever? Aside of others, I know that one of the difficulties of implementing 'multiple Color Groups' would be the colour and/or font to use to highlight the message. Because I have missed a Bookmark feature so much, along time I have tried to emulate it in different ways. For example, including some keyword in the Memo field and the creating some VFs filtering on thses keyword. It works, but it is not an easy way of doing it. You have to open the Memo and edit it to type the keyword(s), save it and close it. A bit cumbersome, prone to errors, you have to remember all keywords and it may interfere with the normal use of Memo. But, just today, I have found a much better way (almost perfect) to emulate Bookmarks. By using one of the not too well known (and perhaps not enough appreciated) features in TB, Chat/Watch Folders. What I have done is create several Common Chant Folders, one per Bookmark. That way, I can can right click on a message and on the context menu select Special/Watch replies in... and the Bookmark. I can repeat this to assign the message to more bookmarks or, very important, to remove the message from one bookmark. The only drawback I have found, so far, using this method is that _replies_, if they come, will also be displayed in bookmark folders as, after all, they are Watch Folders. Also, having to select 'Watch replies in...' is not too intuitive. This is why I am suggesting the implementation of a Bookmarks feature in TB based in the existing code for Chat Folders, by allowing a new type of VF called Bookmarks instead of Chat Folders, that would not be displayed along real Watch Folders when doing a 'Watch replies in..', with a different menu entry like Special/Bookmark and, of course, that would not 'bookmark' and display possible replies. I really believe it would be a great additional feature and should not bee too difficult to implement. If you would like to support the wish for this new feature... https://www.ritlabs.com/bt/view.php?id=6057 TIA. -- Best regards, Miguel A. These filters have filtering conditions. The virtual folders are search results, a way of filtering just for display, but filtering nevertheless. These filters also have conditions. If I understand you correctly, message A should have both colour group 1 and colour group 2 assigned, so you can see it when I search for CG1 and also when you search for CG2. You might even have VFs that look for CGs accordingly, so you don't need to start the search manually every time. Why don't you just create a virtual folder that searches for / filters on the conditions that you use to assign CG1 *or*/*and* (whichever is applicable in your case) CG2? Or better, just create a VF that searches for the conditions in CG1 and another that searches for the conditions in CG2? This way, a message can be found by both filters and will be shown in both VFs, without even the need of the intermittent step of assigning the CGs in the first place (unless you like colours).
