Address book ADD

2001-06-12 Thread Graham Foster

Hello tbbeta

The little blue arrow to add items you are creating to the address
book fails horribly when presented with addresses like
  Foster, Graham [EMAIL PROTECTED]

It starts to parse the and , all incorrectly and gets itself
  extremely confused.

Hello Krzysztof Kudlacik

 Tuesday, June 12, 2001, I saw:

  Not conformed.
Did you try it from within the New message editor? (the blue arrow)
It has been confirmed on NT5... but I find it difficult to believe it
is a platform OS issue.

Odd bug in personal address book

2001-05-17 Thread Graham Foster

Hello tbbeta

I doubt if this will be repeatable with anyone else - but I'll
  report it anyway..

  a) I have a personal address book group of the department managers
  (called managers)

  b) I had 5 entries in it.. but now I'm on beta6 I noticed that 2 had
disappeared. (Could be due to some accidental e-mail filters I guess
  - where I remove names from the address book when junking e-mail).
  No problem here.

  c) Try an Add recipient to address book from an old message - all
goes to plan.. nice new interaction, check the managers group that
they are a member of. No problem

  d) Add the 2nd member back into the group - same dialogue everything
  goes as expected.

  e) Check the address book group list - 1st addition has
disappeared... Mmmh - sure I added him. - go back to c) and repeat.
Yes - c) is in there - but d) has now disappeared. Repeat d) and c)
  disappears again.

Completely reproducible in this group for these people... Anyone
else able to get this problem?

 Graham

I've tested it further.. I created a new group for TBBeta people and
went through and added 6 of you to the address book group.

None of you stayed ..

Looks like this add to address book functionality is not working...

RE: beta/7

2001-04-18 Thread Graham Foster

That's exactly the same error I get when trying to fetch mail from an
IMAP4 server. However, I have been receiving similar errors with all
Connection Centre betas, not just beta/7. (Fetching from POP3 servers
works OK.)

I hope I'm not stuck at version 1.51 forever. :-)

I was using beta 7 against an intranet Exchange 5.5 server. Were you? Is it
perhaps another Microsoft feature? (Their handling of folder date an time
appears strange already when seen through TB! mail dispatcher using IMAP)

Still, I'm open to testing any special beta's with improved debug / diagostics
if RIT are willing.

Read confirmation..

2001-01-08 Thread Graham Foster

Hello tbbeta

RIT have fixed the filter action send "forced reading confirmation".
My question is - shouldn't it follow the folder rules for reading
confirmations? .. i.e. If the folder requires a prompt for user
confirmation before sending - should it therefore ask, or ignore if
the folder says ignore. My vote is that it should (it doesn't) - but
I can see arguments both ways.

Anyone else have ideas on this?

The Bat! - bug report (Message Dispatcher)

2000-12-21 Thread Graham Foster

Hello The Bat! developers,

I'm using The Bat! Version 1.48f
  Serial Number F0060E1D
under Windows NT 4.0 Build 1381 Service Pack 6
and would like to report a bug

  The bug description:
Long standing one... The IMAP message dispatcher doesn't display a DATE
on messages until they are at 48 hours old. At least against this
exchange server they don't.

Also there is no indication of 'please wait' or a progress
indicator on this screen. I have only 500+ messages left on the
server, but it still takes 10+ secs to display. Some progress
indicator would be nice.

Finally - now the list headers are clickable, it would be good to
be able to sort the list by date or size (at least)

  Steps to reproduce the bug:
Open up Message dispatcher and show all messages. You will see that
only messages 2 days old actually have a date associated with them
Less than that - they just have a time displayed

  Graham Foster

Hello Thomas

MM Negative numbers indicate values in seconds.

 Not very intuitive.
But who seriously wants to check their e-mail every 10 seconds anyway.
My connect to my IMAP LAN server takes about 10 seconds (about 6
sqillion public folders to check)...

Perhaps I fail the minimum requirements to be an E-Mailaholic. if I

Re[2]: The Bat! version 1.46 - previw mode copying

2000-09-15 Thread Graham Foster

GF Even AFTER the modifier key is released, the selection mode remains
GF active until another modifier key is selected. Now this is OK in the
GF message editor as there is an indicator in the status bar.. there is
GF no such indicator in the message preview list..

Hmmm. Can't duplicate the problem here.
You need to establish a selection mode by dragging in the message
preview pane with one of the modifiers presses. Once the mode is
changed (it defaults to Stream here), it stays changed until you drag
with a different modifier key pressed.

Large mail download

2000-08-30 Thread Graham Foster

Hello TBBETA

Having setup a 'don't download if NNNk' restriction on my mail
properties when connecting via a modem, I forgot to re-set this when
back on the LAN. So - I've waited half a day for a mail message to
arrive.. and it was on the mail server all along.

  Suggestion

When a mail message is Skipped by the mail dispatcher, could it
generate a short e-mail of the header and file size of the offending
e-mail in your inbox instead.. then you KNOW it hasn't collected it.
(or stick it in the Log panel, or light up a skipped message icon
somewhere!) Yes I know it sticks a record in the account log.. but
that is a MODAL window - hence you cannot keep it on screen whilst
  working.

  Just a suggestion for v2

Re: S/MIME

2000-07-17 Thread Graham Foster

Hello Maxim Masiutin
This message is signed. If you see an attachment "smime.p7s" than
you are using (old) version of The Bat! that didn't support S/MIME.
New version of The Bat! (which supports S/MIME) should display an
attachment called "Valid Signature". Clicking this "attachment"
shows signature details, i.e. which signers have signed (in
parallel) the message and their certificate status.
Sadly I see neither the .p7s attachment or the valid signature
attachment. I cannot see anything in the headers either which
indicates an attachment. Any ideas what the problem might be?

Re: IMAP actions on server

Hello Marek Mikus

 Hello,

can somebody help me, which function have options "Reset mask", "Add
to mask", "Subscribe to" and "Unsubscribe to" in IMAP dispatcher,
under button "action" in "Mailbox Controller"???

What is field "mask" and how is syntax" for it?

TB! handling of IMAP has always been rather obscure (to me at least)
I've only managed to get it to act like an alternative download
source, rather than true IMAP mail management. v2 should be better I
hope.

Regarding the syntax of the mask - I think it just uses * to specify
the wildcard. If you can manage to reset the mask to be *, you should
then see all the top level IMAP directories in your account. You can
the subscribe to whichever ones you want - and specify where they get
downloaded to (usually the Inbox)

2000-06-27 Thread Graham Foster

Hello tbbETA,

I would like to be able to send myself an e-mail from an external
location, requesting a file from my home PC (Bizarre I know!)

The Subject line would have (say) SEND_ME: in it (to filter on) and
the body of the text would have 1 (or more?) filename in it (one per
  line)

I would like an autofilter to recognise my request (by the SEND_ME:
subject), and generate an autoreply, attaching the requested file(s?)
with a high priority - so my mail server would automatically dial
and connect to send me the file back ASAP

How think I need to use the %REGEXPTEXT (I assume) macro along the
  lines of
  %ATTACHFILE=%REGEXPTEXT="something" - but I can't figure out what
  something is!

It started from writing logs of little autofilters to send specific
files on to me (the files are generated daily from a database) After
I got up to 10 separate filters, I thought it might be easier to get
a single filter working where I could specify the file I wanted.

  Finally - I tried setting %PRIORITY=1, but I couldn't get this to
work correctly either. Without setting this, my e-mail server will
not send immediately. It could be ANOTHER hour before it dials out
  again. Does %PRIORITY actually exist?

 Graham

Re[2]: Reading confirmation

2000-06-19 Thread Graham Foster

Hello Stefan Tanurkov

 Hello Graham,

GF TB! never has acknowledged MS-Exchange generated read-receipt
GF notification. This beta also ignores the read receipt stuff. Is this
GF a MS-ignoring-the-standards issue?
GF Example header info included

I am afraid, I don't quite understand you. What do you do and what do
 you get?

Setting Read receipt notification in TB! is ignored by MS-Exchange
Seeting Read receipt notification in Exchange is ignored by TB!

Deliver receipt seems to be handled correctly though. (done by the
Exchange server rather than client software of course)

 Graham

Resetting original defaults

2000-04-12 Thread Graham Foster

Hello TBBETA,

Any tell me how to clear all my folder properties? I notice that if
you create a new folder TB! sets up defaults for the "Flagging" that
i like - but I cannot be bothered to manually re-create it for all
56 folders I have. I'd prefer to reset all their properties to "as
God (Stefan) intended" and then just tweak those few that have
special properties (like this list for example)

Any ideas from those of you who appear to know more about TB! inner
workings than Stefan or Max grin

 Graham

Forwarded messages

2000-04-11 Thread Graham Foster

Hello All,

Why aren't forwarded messages grouped under the same thread when
sorted by subject (or thread ref)?

Appearing and disappearing smartcard functions

2000-03-30 Thread Graham Foster

Hello TBBETA,

Anyone else notice that the Tools | PGP | Smart card options seem to
appear and disappear between beta releases. This version (beta 9) has
it - whilst my version at home (beta 7) doesn't have it.

 Odd... Anyone know why?

regards,
 Graham

SOT: Suggested feature

2000-03-23 Thread Graham Foster

Hello

Having just spent 2 days in a corporate meeting (yawn) discussing the
impact of digital signatures on e-commerce etc, I thought I'd raise a
few ideas:

-) With digital signatures (S/MIME and x509.3 certificates) people and
systems can be pretty sure that you are who you say you are. Therefore
information being transferred by e-mail can be checked rather better.
These certificates are to be held in centralised Corporate directories
(LDAP enabled) - Will TB! be able to use this technology - i.e.
automatically get someones public key from a corporate LDAP server?

-) Classification of e-mails: 2 e-mail headers that are thought
necessary are

--) 'Sensitivity' (e.g. Public, Company confidential,Restricted access
and 'Top secret'). 'Top secret' information will never be e-mailed
anywhere - and will be blocked by the gateways /servers. Restricted
and above will always be encrypted (automatically)

--) Retention (Official, administrative etc) This enables automated
e-mail retention based on content rather than age of message. Again -
I don't believe that TB! can handle these either (Outlook/Exchange can
at least handle the sensitivity flags)

Now our organisation is huge and not bleeding edge - so if we are
putting infrastructure in place to do these things - I'm sure that
others are too. Should TB! include this functionality - and if so -
how could it be 'customised' to a corporation requirements?

Just a discussion point for version 2

 Graham

Hugely long URLS

2000-02-16 Thread Graham Foster

Hello TBBETA,

If any of you have ever used Domino (Lotus Notes on the web) you
will be familiar with the HUGE URL's it generates (like 130+
  characters!)

Any chance that TB! 2 will not word wrap a URL please, and that it
will also understand (i.e. still hyperlink to) a quoted URL

Out of memory error

1999-11-01 Thread Graham Foster

Hello

Attaching a large .RTF file (15Mb) by accident. (I clicked on the
wrong file) I got an out of memory error after about 5 mins! TB! was
using 190Mb RAM (256Mb RAM on the machine).

Am I right in assuming that TB! doesn't use virtual memory?

Re[2]: Drive not ready error

1999-10-19 Thread Graham Foster

Hello §yafril

§H No problem here.
§H Are you using Network drive ?
Yes I am - but the error message says "Create new message " and then
refers to my Hard-drive using NT syntax (\Harddrive0\Partition1 etc)

Well its worrying - but not apparently fatal.

Drive not ready error

1999-10-18 Thread Graham Foster

Hi tbbeta

Anyone else get the error message saying Drive not ready with NT4 and
TB! 1.36? It pops up at random with me - filtering messages, searching
/ browsing messages?. I've had it on two separate machines- and
basically TB! is telling me my harddrive has gone away. Pressing
Retry or Ignore - and everything continues!
Bizarre!

Cheers
