Having a look at your png, I guess in those single folders (which do
not show their size) there are no messag files. collapsed folders
will not show any size at all,

I have that behaviour over here in my own common folders anyway. My
guess is, only the sizes of TB's message diles are shown, not the
overall size of a gicen folder in my hirarchy,

That doesn't bother me at all, as I do not use my mesdsage base for
other storage. The only drawback I see is in accounts where
attachments are stored in a seperate folder ;-(

So I don't think there is a bug

at first glance: confirmed - later on: not confirmed.

Did you by any chance customize your GUI some versions ago? I did
so (I guess about V 3.51 or so) - my yellowish icons appeared and
today I saw the reload-option was gone. I renamed my batskin.xml and
restarted TB - now the reload option appeared again but the yellowish
icons were gone - naturally :-(

May be the internal version of batskim.xml is not quite compatible
with older external versions - there could be a greater problem
regarding customization and development of GUI customization

Thank you Mary but your in the minority.

Eeeerrrhhh ... You forget the huge _silent_ majority, don't you?

In your case I belong to that group, notwithstanding that you have my
sympathy - I am _really_ sorry for you!

I can see your problem as I had similar difficulties getting mulberry
to work over here - I gave up on it. I never got filters to work (my
own fault - didn't read the help and even didn't ask for help :-) ).
Now I have only a couple of IMAP accounts again (for some casually
tests) - all my other accounts remain ( for the time being) POP.

Just now I don't have a simple solution for you - but has mulberry a
possibility to manual trigger a filter to copy (!) a message to a
local folder? I seem to recall that your reference-header problem was
gone when you replied from a local folder instead of an IMAP folder?
may be you could copy only single messages to a local folder and reply
from there?

I see two long range possibilities in either mulberry rewrites the
incorrect reference header when sending a message or TB! silently deal
with incorrect headers. (I don't think you have direct contact with
your ISP's IMAP server programming crew). You have one guess what I
prefer. It was once mentioned here and I learned it quite some time
ago: The output of your program _must_ be correct _all_the_times, but
you may never depend on correct input.

So both teams have work to do :-) eg.

If I was using Incredimail until TB gets fixed I could understand it

For heaven's sake - don't you dare!!!

while I'm waiting for TB's IMAP to be fixed.

I'm not really sure that this fix is RIT's duty - may be a quick and
dirty fix can do dealing with just the last entry in the references
list?

I am not going to stop posting to this list until either 1 of 2 things
 happen.

 1. The Bat gets it's IMAP up to an acceptable usable standard.

It's the best up to now - and incorrect headers are (in fact) a
problem of the server, not of the client).

 2. The Moderators do ban me from the list.

I would never hope the would do something like that!!!

If I use Thunderbird or The Bat!/GPGrelay, I am allowed to use this

I guess they do not verify the certificate's server name, which seems
like a flaw to me.

The Bat! gives me no options and won't allow a connection.

That would solve our problem at once.

Yep, same over here - but the icons _are_ different. For unread mail

OK - quite nice, but I too liked the difference in color better. It's

mails and import them later on into my regular message base when I'm
back again. All POP accounts do forwards to this one IMAP account.

I've had this for a long time now with my old account

I can remember bad behavior with IMAP since V2 - sincerely testing
IMAP since 3.0.2 something with better results in each new beta.

Before I started getting this AV, TB would usually get stuck
updating the IMAP account, and I had to first switch to a non-IMAP
account, delete all requests for the IMAP task (sometimes there were
hundreds of such queued requests, so I had to hold the Delete key
for a while to get rid of them all), delete the task itself (just
deleting the task without removing it's requests first didn't work),
and switch back to the IMAP account.

I can remember that behavior starting for me in 3.0.2.10 (or so,
multiple IMAP connections were just introduced) and remain constant
even when switching back to the stable release. But that didn't occur
here since 3.0.9.13. Speaking of that: just now this odd behavior
starts again in ..9.19 - socks tweaking? :-(

I have a lot of nested folders in this account, no problems the last
four weeks - only this evening my inbox get stuck again :-(

Never seen an AV with this IMAP account.

FWIW: this account is an administrator account and password protected.

FWIW 2. all folders are regularly purged and compressed via scheduler
- maintenance as I have limited memory on this server.

As no-one else seems to be finding this - so I guess the problem
is mine alone, and a probably a configuration error.

The above mentioned dependency makes perfect sense for me that there
is at least one bug left in the new UI which cries to get eliminated
at last :-)

Is there any documentation as to which files I can throw away that
v3 no longer needs? (e.g all the .DEF files, the .TIP files,
 the ... etc)

I don't know - at least not from RIT IIRC. There was mail some time
ago where different files between TB!2 and TB!3 were listed, as I'm
not at home right now I can't dig my message base for this one.

I'd like to know if the newly introduced .def files may now be purged
as v.17 now comes without those (embedded in the exe file in the
meantime?) except tbuser.def that is.

I just want a completely clean setup and
see if this problem goes away

Maybe you could download the current V3 msi installer from RIT's
website, have a fresh install (after a complete backup of course) and
then apply beta 17 again?

Administrator account is an IMAP account (protected with a separate

starting TB! I have to enter the account password once more (why? I
logged in with that password already).

After connecting to the IMAP server each and every modification on

Same thing happened here. Went back to RC7 - all fine.

Then, remembering the same happend some time ago, I disabled _all_
plugins from RC7, shut down, renamed my saved 3.0.1 exe again - now
I'm up and working again.

Now I'll have to identify the problematic plugin (I've got a feeling
might be UMC - we'll see later :-) )

As far as I understand, the problem of 3.0.1.28 is that not a

I _do_think there are _some_ plugins that wouldn't work with 3.0.1.2x

In my case the problem is with UMC 1.8.845. All others (MyMacros
1.11a, Gajin Macro Plugin 0.71, U.M.P. MBM/Winamp 1.0.292, X-Face
Plugin 1.5 and MyGateRunner 1) work quite well with 3.0.1.29.

I don't have any anti-spam nor any anti-virus plugin installed.

There is probably a problem in The Bat! itself, in a way it handles
the plugin. Did I catch the point?

Can recall some time back there was a similar problem (changes in
api?)

- TB! now runs smoothly (with a couple of plugins, without UMC 1.8.845)
- removed (or replaced) the 3.0.1.26 installation entry in ARP

The installed version in ARP says 3.0.1.30, the .exe fileversion says

Hmmm - just noticed an elderly bug (from august) rising again:

I have incoming filters on a POP3 account which

- redirect the mail to another IMAP account (no local delivery)
- move the mail to a common folder
- copy the mail to another (archiv) common folder (marked as read

This works quite well as long as there are no attachments. Whenever
there are separate attachments to the mail (.jpg, gif, png) this
attachment in the outbox has a size of 0 byte, logfile states 'Could
not export message' and the mail resides in outbox until I delete the
attachment manually.

The same error happened in beta 4, described in
mid:[EMAIL PROTECTED] (TBBETA) and was squashed
later on (until now).

My fix that consistently works is to use the View Windows split mode any

I can confirm this workaround.

Hmmm - which threading model do you use in these folders? May be it's
only me dreaming but I have the impression since early in the 2.13
beta series RIT has changed something in the way of threading. Large
folders in threading by reference take _very_ long to open (and
display the threads) - whereas no threading results in remarkably
shorter times to open a large folder.

Not that I know of.

Or is this just a bug?

Don't think so. My guess would be something has gone awry in your

And please do not tell me that he has to downgrade to the old

That is what I wanted to try. Actually, I have not tried it yet but I
 think it should either:
 Header field: In-Reply-To contains @rancho-k.com
 or
Header field: In-Reply-To matches [EMAIL PROTECTED]

I've manually changed all filters which searched in kludges before to
their respective header field contains without regexp and
they are successfully working now.

However, for other purposes, I would like to understand if Regex can

As I understand it (from the German translation of the GUI) the
match condition is using regexp search, the contain is the same
without regexp.

Sorry to say - your method may work at your end, it doesn't on my
computer.

This error appears randomly (using RTV) mostly it disappears
at once when switching to PTV and viewing a couple of msgs. in PTV.
Sometimes it doesn't help at all (UTF-8 coded mails). Also shifting
messages, folders, accounts slowly or quickly brings no solution. Last
solution: Restart of TB! brings a new trial period without HTML
Error.

Yet I see something's done: These trial periods get longer since b4
(or b5 ?).

Done - see above YMMV

Outbox still shows the message. Using the New Sorting Office.
 Confirmations?

Confirmed - but as I have a filter which moves a sent message into a
special folder (depending on address) most of the messages get moved and the
Outbox gets empty (there are a few messages which will slip through
the filter, delving deeper)

Re: AV in sorting office

valuable points on the subject of AV in sorting office:

Pressing the template-button results in the above AV.

You might add the filter (or send it to me via PM) so I can see if I
 understood it right.

It just happens when I create a new filter with the option to export
the message to a file and there is (naturally) no template in this
filter.

However I did copy the (incomplete) filter to smartbat, put the
requested macro (%DisplayXFace ) in the Savetemplate-Line there and
imported the filter again. Now it does work (in this filter) as
expected.

BTW: I found out (after some experiments) this AV is _not_ reproducible
when trying to create the filter in an mail-account as there is no
default-template. It _is_ reproducible for each filter which can use
a template in any given common-folder. Maybe due to the lack of a
default template?

 I can't, sorry.

Try again with some common folder :-(

combined smileys (suggestion)

2004-06-17 Thread Michael Geyer
Hi 9val and list,

I have a suggestion for the new combined .MSL files in 2.12.Beta/1 for smileys:

Please add a function (button?) to buld a new in memory list of
existing .MSL files without restarting TheBat!

Now while there is a real hype on TB-OT regarding Leifs idea of
rogue-smileys each modification (addition) needs a restart of
TheBat!. As I have a lot of accounts and a lot of folders it takes
some time to leave the program (with compressing folders).

I guess such a functionality already has to exist already, so it might
be not so difficult to call this routine at wish.

Is there anybody out to support this idea?

Whenever I come to register some shareware or subscribe to a new

I can get a clue how someone is dealing with mail-addresses.

I regret deeply, I didn't get that idea earlier, as my
shareware-registration address (huge firms like adobe, adaptec (roxio)
