Bayes Filter and 3.5

2005-05-17 Thread Foster, Graham
Hi TBBETA

I probably have a local problem, but the Bayes filter (Achim's one)
has gone crazy and is classifying almost all TBBETA messages as spam.
I've reclassified them as Not junk - but it still persists. Any
suggestions?
(To be fair - it is trapping real spam too, but it just seems to have
gone crazy on TBBETA messages)

Can't blame it for that, with the recent flow. ;-)

Re: Bayes Filter and 3.5

2005-05-17 Thread Foster, Graham
Found the (likely) problem...

(My instance of) TB Release version 3.5 is not remembering the Bayes
plugin. I checked and TB was configured to use the OLD (v2) plugin.
I un-installed this plugin, and re-referenced the latest version
(2.02 in a different directory). I closed TB, and re-opened - the old
(v2.0.0) was still referenced. I repeated the re-configuration, but
this time completely deleted the old folder with 2.0.0 in it. I
restarted TB! and now TB! had NO anti-spam plugin. I reconfigured
(yet again), restarted TB and once again, no anti-spam plugin was
 loaded.

How can I convince TB that the Bayes filter is installed in the TB!
 program folder??

More or less confirmed. I didn't have an older version installed in
TB, but I can't get v2.0.2 to install properly either.

On the Ritlabs forum somebody describes the same problem:
http://www.ritlabs.com/en/forum/read.php?FID=5TID=1382

When I decided to remove BayesFilter the software panel of the
configuration screen still told me I had an older version of
BayesFilter installed. That was right, until I installed 2.0.2 a few
minutes before on top of it. So it might have something to do with
installations that didn't work out properly, but that's just guessing

FG How can I convince TB that the Bayes filter is installed in the TB!
FG program folder??

I have installed v.2.0.2 in program files and that works without
problems.

I have never been able to get either bayes filter to work.
Am currently using the one you have. It never catches
anything. Yes, I have trained it to where it stopped
complaining about not enough. 250 scanned spam now.

But in your case, it might be sufficient to set up a manual
whitelist entry for tbbeta.
