Re: Create new Message drop-list empty AGAIN!
Hello Steven, Your trick worked for me, too. The restart was critical. I looked before restarting and the Create a New Message drop list had reverted to only Quick Template after I added the single address, but the RMB menu was correct instead of being empty (as it was BEFORE I added the single address.) After restarting TB! both address lists are populated as I think they should be. THANKS! What do you mean thanks? You owe me a beer ;-) -- Best regards, Miguel A. To anyone interested, I'm not sure if this issue has been corrected, or if Miguel's trick caused it, but I ran the 5.1.6.2 MSI today and, for the first time in over a year, NEITHER of the address drop-lists was missing after the install completed and TheBat restarted. Hello Rick, I am seeing that problem with this release too - I have several groups checked to show in the drop down, and they are not showing And ... after installing the new MSI files, the drop down list is FIXED (???) No, I've been playing around and it is not fixed. The thing is that I can't find a pattern on when and why if fails, but I think that, just by coincidence, I have found a trick that makes it work. At least it does for me. In the Properties of the AB Groups you want to show in the drop-down list and RMB menu, select the option Add items to Instant Address pop-up. Then, select a single address that is NOT in any of those groups and mark as Favourite. Re-start TB and both the drop-down list and RMB menu will display the desired groups and the single address below them. As I say, this is so far working for me. Re: Create new Message drop-list empty AGAIN!
Hello Steven, However, the drop-list shows only Quick templates instead of the groups/users it should be showing. I'd really, REALLY, *REALLY* like to get this back. I probably used that feature more than any other. I don't use favourites addresses from the drop-down list but from the context menu when right clicking on the To: or CC: field of the editor. Anyway, I was curious about your problem and was playing with the settings in the AB Groups properties, although not exhaustively. These are my findings: - There certainly seems to be an issue when using/selecting different settings in AB Groups properties. - In some cases I got what you report, drop-down list showing only Quick templates. I all or most cases, re-starting TB made the favourites appear in the list. I assume you have re-started TB many times. - If I select the option 'Add items to Instant Address Pop-Up' I do get the groups and favourites (maybe after re-starting), but then the right-click context menu in Editor does NOT show any group or favourites. I normally don't have this option selected and I only get the favourites without the groups, but they also appear in editor's context menu. - I have been playing with both v4.2.44.2 and v5.1.0.4 and they both seem to behave the same. So, whatever the issue/problem is, I don't think it is something new to v5. -- Best regards, Miguel A. I guess I'll try *NOT* selecting anything for inclusion in the pop-up menu and maybe they will magically appear in the address field context menu instead. I've not been able to get an address list pop-up in the address fields since somewhere in v2 or v3 (though I do get a list of things that kind of match what I've started to type, but that doesn't always help if I do not remember the name I'm looking for!) I'm sure there's a setting to control which of the context menus is displayed, but actually /finding/ a specific new setting in TB is far too much like finding a four-leaf clover in a very large clover field! FWIW, I've had this list go empty several times when trying new betas over the years, but they happen so far apart that I forget how to fix them! It is starting to look like I'll be going back to 4.2.44.2 again. It isn't that I need (or use) any of the new things added to the 5.x line, I was just trying to stay current on a product I find worthy of supporting. Create new Message drop-list empty AGAIN!
(I posted this to the TheBat! User List, but since it is about the 5.1.x.y BETA, I figured I should post it here, too.) I recently upgraded from 4.2.44 = 5.0.x.y = 5.1.x.y and the Create a new Message drop-list has gone empty again (except for 'Quick Template'). This has happened before but all I remember is that there's some magic file I need to delete so that TB! will re-create the drop-list content (or something like that.) I have everyone correctly checked as a favorite in the address book, but they no longer appear on the drop-list. I've restarted the program several times and it is not fixing itself, so I'm hoping someone knows how to get them back. Help?
