Well first of all Incredimail is a MESS. They may be using that font because of
decorative letters for all I know. I may attack this later and post a follow
up. :)

Beats me, it should be just the reverse, WITHOUT the font the text
should be fine.

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\FontSubstitutes
The section goes back to as early as Windows 3.x (was a win.ini section).
Its entries are like:
","=","
or
""=""

"Charset IDs" used here are discussed well at
http://www.webcenter.ru/~kazarn/eng/fonts_ttf.htm#ttcharset .
The number assignment convention is truly something.

On my machine, it shows squares for the test pangram when
double-clicked in the fonts folder.

Uh .. ok - I assumed that saying it wasn't displaying correctly
covered that

I installed the font and nothing showed. I unistalled and rebooted and
I am back to glyphs

It can be done in Windows - there are instructions out there - I just
need to find the ones for the XP registry

Yes, but it DOES supposedly display the western characters

This is a beta group, I just started having the issue with the last
beta. So I asked in here. I don't think that was at all out of line

Sometimes, I wonder if my peers *actually read* the comments they reply
to.

I said that "the font hasn't glyphs for latin letters" (and everyone
knows that square is a placeholder glyph shown when a font
hasn't a glyph for a character).
Then I added that "if the font is NOT installed", the text renders correctly.
Which makes it pretty obvious that in this case, some other font is used instead.

Taking all this into account, a request for a "font substitution feature" looks somewhat... strange.

The most amazing thing, however, is that Stefan, an IT specialist, read it just the same way!
Am I missing something or what?

P.S. the language was actually Thaana, this was a typo on my part.

The issue was resolved and it doesn't have anything to do with
Incredimail or TB:
