Thanks a mil for the further input.

Would you have time to put a note at
https://www.ritlabs.com/bt/view.php?id=5956 ?

(I've just now edited my own note, to put in the one-time error alert
that I got when I clicked on a smiley to insert it.)

I've even had TB just simply quit on me while playing with the 'insert
smiley' feature, no AV, no nothing, just gone.
Definitely not release-ready I guess.
Whenever I had AVs I had to use Task Manager.

The very beginning is as follows:

v3.81.12 Beta /Charlene 26.07.2006 22:59:33 GifImage:6 EOSError System Error.

Ah! That's the language which was on the Alert Boxes (which I
perceived at first as cascading AVs) that came up for me. There were
dozens of them before I used the Task Manager to close TB!

However, when I unpacked the Except log you sent using WinRar, saving

Thank you for being such an adventurous beta-testing friend. Have you

My Bat certainly has been much more experienced in crashing than yours,
every now and then I have some troubles with that. If I restore it from
tray, sometimes TB can't be motivated to go back at work: The freshly
maximized window, although set as active, doesn't react on any of my
clicks then. TB can't be terminated the regular way then and must be
aborted by task manager. This time, however, when fiddling around with
the "insert smiles" functionality, my TB had a heavy hick-up for some
seconds before it finally crashed and closed itself without me having it
stopped. I saw IIRC some alert boxes, too, but all happened much too
quick.

Exactly. Needs to be cleared up before a full release.

Me neither. I simply didn't try the "Insert Smile" button when it
first appeared, because I have most of the smiley handles that I like
memorized and it's quicker just to type the handle in.

But after reading the reports of trouble with it and, with a little
time to spend on testing, I decided to check it out.

Multiple things are wrong with it. I think the RitLabs team should
give the code of this new feature a thorough going-over.

I get the same, but only when using the scroll bar.

Confirmed. But, note that, one time only, so far, I got an Alert box
after selecting and clicking on a Smiley image that said something
like "Cannot draw image." I can't recall the exact wording now and
wasn't able to get a screenshot of the rapidly cascading boxes. I had

I have just encountered a series of AV messages that TB! cannot draw
an image after using the "Insert Smile" dialogue window to attempt to
choose one Smiley. (My window brings up a set from the PCWize Smiley

The AV windows cascaded. I had to close TB! with the Task Manager.

The Bat! 3.81.12 Beta -inserting smileys

2006-07-26 Thread Charlene Ferrara
Dear List members,

I had a one-time-issue with this version:
Inserting a "smile" caused a heavy malfunction, consisting of several
half-drawn error messages that could not be read properly, because TB
closed itself within seconds. I noticed that in the background something
was going on, the monitor flickered a lot.

The second attempt to do so was successful indeed, no further trouble,
so I insert my smile here ==> :)

Dev. team may want to have an eye on attached except.log.
