Re: Backing up?

RL directory and contents and copy these back?

That one and the registry key HKCU / Software / RIT and you're done.

Without that registry key, you loose a lot of your settings, as well
as your registration. So, if you didn't back up the registry key but
have a hard copy of your TB registration, all you need to do is type
in the registration by hand (Help / Registration) and adjust settings
 (such as windows sizes etc).

Ah ha, that sounds like the situation that happened when I first backed up
The Bat some while back, most of the settings where intact and some where
missing.

Thanks for the help.

NA Well first, it sounds like a problem better resolved via a Pegasus related

NA would import them. Would that have something to do with the settings in
NA Pegasus?

Considering that the TB's wizard is having the problem with only some
of the folders, I consider it to be a wizard problem, therefore a
question for TB -related lists, not a PEgasus-relatd list. Pegasus has no
problem with the folders - TB does. The complete structure of the
Pegasus files is found in a hierarchy file maintained by Pegasus. I
am guessing that the wizard is using a setting of C:\PMAIL\MAIL - the
default location of the mail folders in Pegasus - as opposed to
parsingthru the HIERARCH.PM file.

Re[3]: Out of Resources Message Error

Hello Serge,

Serge quantities:( Or migrate to NT-family OS (depending on the age of
Serge your computer NT4 or w2k could be the choice).

Serge The problem frequently is not just lack of GDI or User memory but
Serge rather applications that do not release resources correctly. [...]

I quite agree about your choice of NT4 or W2K having switched (in
  a few weeks) from W98 -- WinMe -- W2K_SP2.

In 98 Me I was getting low resources msgs too often. Now I get
none. As I understand it, the prior OSs would basically divide the
resources up like a pie while W2K/NT4 creates a virtual machine for
  each application -- real multitasking.

However, I have come across the following problem in W2K:

I guess I'm a lazy uwser. Frequently I leave several programs open,
on the desktop. There have been times when a graphic heavy program
just won't load in or open a window. Mind you, there's no error msg
the system certainly does *not* crash (as it's virtually
crash-proof) but there's an overload. I assume its video memory but
I'm not enough of a tech to really know this is the case.

It also seems to me that the ticker takes up lots of video resources
as when I don't have it running, everything else seem to run
differently, though this is not as apparent in W2K.

  Just my .02.

I use no screen savers, standard fonts are loaded, machine has 384m ram,
  60g HD, 64k video ram (?) a 1.3Ghz chip.

Hi Homesick,

Homesick Mac wrote to [EMAIL PROTECTED] and made these points:

HM I'm in trouble. Since the version around 1.52-1.53 my TheBat is
HM crashing every few minutes, giving me error messages. After
HM clicking on the OK button it closes itself.

Ouch. You /are/ in trouble!

HM My PC is a Celeron 433, 128 MB RAM, 10 GB HD, 16 MB video memory on a Matrox
HM Marvel G400 TV. Windows 98 SE
HM Running in the background:
HM PC Cillin, TurboNote, Window Blinds, Zone Alarm, RamPage, Logtime.

HM This system otherwise doesn't crash.

HM Everything is virus checked daily. Anti-virus pattern updated
HM every few days, as often as PC Cillin has it available on their
HM site.

Okay. First things first. Does the crash coincide with a mail check
cycle? Something else?

You could try a process of elimination - turn off the other apps one
by one to see if any of them are interfering.

Another thing you can try is to either use the TB backup routines or
to zip up the mail folders and keep the HKCU/RIT registry key safe.
Once you have done that you can uninstall TB and delete the registry
key. Then you can try a virgin install and see if that crashes in the
same way.

You have to narrow down to whether the fault is due to:

1) A fault in TB
2) An interference fault with another application in the system
3) A fault in the TB data files causing the crash.

Ritlabs SecureBat! - suggestions

2001-06-22 Thread Brian Clark

Hello Ritlabs SecureBat! developers,

I'm using Ritlabs SecureBat! Version 1.53bis/iKey1000
  Serial Number 0266E-08A55
  under Windows 98 4.10 Build A .

There are some features I would like to see in your program:

A hot-key assigned to Show/Hide connection center.

Some people, like myself, may have connection center always on
hide. When there is a problem (For example, I can't close the
application when it's trying to connect to a mail server that
cannot be reached), I have to:

1) Go to Options - Preferences
2) Select Always from the list.
3) Hit OK.
4) Hit Abort.

Then, when the problem has corrected itself, later, go through the
same process to hide it once again.

A Show/Hide toggle shortcut would make this process *much* easier.

Unless, of course, I've overlooked an existing shortcut?

Regards,
  Brian Clark
