Filter help needed -- incoming/outgoing

2004-12-14 Thread Munango-Keewati
Hello tbudl,

I'm trying to create a filter that will move both incoming and
outgoing messages to a single folder, based on the name of the sender
or recipient. That is, I'm trying to collect both messages to and from
one individual in the same folder for future reference. Incoming
messages work fine, but outgoing still go to the Sent Mail folder.
Here's the filter (edited to conceal real names and email addresses):

 TB! Message Filter

UID: [FE986F40.01C4D743.2399DB9B.441DBA0B]

Filter: [EMAIL PROTECTED]@domain.com\0D\0A}
MoveMessage folder \5C\5CTreasure\20Mountain\5CSave\5CLast\20Firstname
IsActive
Ignore
endFilter

Any suggestions on how to make this work?

Thanks in advance.

OK, got that. Thanks. But how do I get the global views not to be

Errr.. in other words, sometimes I am looking a folder that is
normally using my Thread by Ref Global view and I want to view threads

Alt+2 (same as View|View Threads By.. Subject) then that affects *all*
my folders. Why is that?

I guess a better question would be what is the difference between the

How do I quickly change the view/threading of one folder without
affecting other folders?

Thanks for you help. I know (or knew...) how to do this

TB! can't do that. You should start off by reading
about filters - there's plenty of good references on

Why do you feel you need to do this in a single filter?
Once you have a basic idea about what filters are, you
will see that it is a trivial task using two filters -
one for incoming and one for outgoing.

%AB Macros and Addressbook filter question

2004-12-14 Thread Andrew
Hi All,

I noticed that I was getting mail to me but that my name wasn't in
the original TO or was misspelled.

I cam up with this. It makes sure that the sender is consistent, and
that the right alias return address is used.
%FROM='%ABOTOHandle %OTOADDR'

But this led me to these thoughts:

Is there an easier or more logical way to do this? Is there no display
name AB key word or similar that would insert the entry as it would if
manually selected from the address book (might be handy when sending
mail too). Right now, I take the display name and have to copy it over
to the handle, but if I change something in the address book, I need
to update the handle as well...

How does the default address filter decide how to add addresses? Is
there a better way than the default one, which seems to do add every
combo of name even though the e-mail addy is obviously already in
there.

making folder views stick

2004-12-14 Thread ken green
Can someone tell me (or point me to a thread/FAQ/bug report) how to
make folder views *stick*??

I love v3 of The Bat (main reason I came back actually), but I can't
seem to make folder views work the way I want.

If I right-click on a folder and select a global view, nothing
happens. The view is not applied. Same thing if I go to that folder's
properties. Right-clicking on message list or msg list column headers
produces that same (non) result.

The only way I can change a folder's view (that I can see) is to
right-click on the msg list columns, then go to setup view mode...
Only problem is those changes are *global* - and I'm now viewing ALL
FOLDERS that way. Not good... :(

Note that I can switch between threaded views (Alt+1, Alt+2) correctly
- those views were set up and seem to stick. But trying to apply the
Generic view or any other special views I have set up doesn't seem to
do anything.

I don't remember TheBat behaving this way with folder views. What am
I doing wrong?

Sorry if this was recently asked/solved. I couldn't find the answer
in my searches.

Re[2]: Plugin Hotmail for TB3 ?

2004-12-14 Thread WilWilWil

TB What has MSN got to do with Hotmail, apart from the fact they're both
Microsoft.
I don't know exactly the difference. It's difficult for me to understand. I try
to explain the history :

1- First I needed an instant electronic mail : so I 've chosen MSN Messenger
2- To work with MSN Messenger, I had to create a passport with a Hotmail
account : so I created an address like [EMAIL PROTECTED]
3- Microsoft force you to have a use of the hotmail at least one time per
month. If not, your account (mail and messenger account) is deleted !
4-I didn't want to use this hotmail because I've already personal adresses for
exchange with my friends. I just need messenger
5- So I decided to send and receive automatic mails with TB scheduler to
simulate an activity of my hotmail, and I hope it will be sufficient.

But I can't manage my hotmail address with TB. And not with foxmail anymore !
:-(

And if I want POP and SMTP features with my Microsoft hotmail, it cost 20 EUR
per year ! :-( A little bit expensive for just using Messenger and never use
the mails...
