Ancient bug finally revealed!
Hello TBUDLers, I've had a few bitches and moans on here about my Number One Bug (apologies to Stephen King, but some days I just imagine Kathy Bates in my PC causing this mayhem with a sledgehammer). It's the one where my TB! groups keep losing accounts (and I keep losing hairs). Well, tonight I just figured out what the bug actually is! I had never before figured out how to reproduce the bug consistently. Now I have. It would be helpful if someone (with a spare machine probably) could test my theory as posted in the bug report. https://www.ritlabs.com/bt/view.php?id=4807 BTW, not sure why the BT chose to turn some numbers I typed into bug links - I really just meant them to be plain old numbers. If any can reproduce, please note on the bug report and maybe this can get looked at finally. I've been living with this since version 1.6x. I do wonder, however, if RIT will simply say Sorry, not supported about what I am trying to do. Then again, I suspect more than a few people are doing what I do re the registry -- see bug report for details. After you've read the bug report and think just copy the registry again, think again. The user numbers are different for most accounts between the two registry sets! This probably matters somewhere else! -- Cheers, Allister :flag-newzealand: New Zealand / Aotearoa Current version is 3.5.25 | 'Using TBUDL' information: http://www.silverstones.com/thebat/TBUDLInfo.html

Let's see the report: With multiple email accounts set up, all accounts are accessible from any Windows user, so long as an initial 'registry copy' is performed. Yes. Each Windows user's TB! use is separate. There's a separate registry entry and by default, there's a separate mail directory. As a result any change you make to one Windows user's TB! setup will not reflect in another Windows user's setup unless the registry key's are made the same. When logging on as a TB! group, accounts which are in the group but not in registry under HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\RIT\The Bat!\Users Depot are removed from the group. This is a permanent removal. By 'permanent removal', do you mean that the account files themselves were deleted as well? I'd be surprised if they were. I don't have a spare machine, so I can only help you clarify what you're reporting. Adding a new account creates a new entry in the registry, but only for the current Windows user. Yes. This is expected behaviour since each logged in Windows user has a different registry key. If you wish for the changes to be the same for all Windows users, you'll have to keep copying the registry keys across when you make changes like adding a new account. -- -= Allie Martin =- The Bat! v3.5.30 System Specs: http://www.ac-martin.com/sysspecs.htm -=-=- No man's life, liberty, or property is safe while the legislature is in session. marking folders with unread messages
Ordinarily, if a folder is nested in a series of folders, when there is an unread message, folders up the tree are bolded as well as the messge and the folder it is in. Right now, I have a folder in my account called 'virtual folders' which, cleverly enough, contains virtual folders. One of those virtual folders contains a message marked unread. If the usual custom were followed, the 'virtual folders' folder should be bolded, as should the folder in which it is nested. This does not happen. It would seem that these folders should have the same treatment as regular folders in this context. -- Dwight A. No, drafts in TB are just parked messages in the Outbox. And parking the message in the outbox (rather than just saving it there) is the only difference between Save and Save Draft, right? Saving in Outbox is actually Queue in Outbox [Shift+F2], when a message is saved and ready for catapulting/sending (not parked [in]!). Save Draft [Alt+F2] saves the message, in Outbox, _and_ is parking it [in] (making it thusly immovable). So the difference is in the presence of the quality of movability. Hence, Shift+F2 gives to the message 100% of movability/freedom to go (away), while Alt+F2 gives it 0% of it. NB: Something between would be if for the message would be possible to keep it on a rubber band, sort of, when the message could go around, in a measure, sensing a sense of a certain personal freedom, swanking a trifle, but nevertheless couldn't go away permanently/definitely. It would be for situations of a type shell I send it, shell I not, where you would occasionally hear the specific sound of this rubber band (which might be even erotic sometimes, but let's not indulge too much in the moment, since over teasing is not good for concentration, and could bring to a too sharp bite[s] even; or even even more).
