Robert, if you have problems sometimes to remember lots of (new) informations at once, I think it's better and more practical to use GnuPG with TheBat, at least in the beginning, than PGP, since with PGP is situation much more complicated. GnuPG is freeware, open source, and has much better and more consistent documentation. It also has much better integration with TheBat. If you decide to try GnuPG, link is here: www.gnupg.org. Whatever you decide anyway, the Nick's invitation to PGP-Basics list is very good idea as well, since there is quite a lot crypto documentation related to privacy/security, which can be better discussed and analyzed on the dedicated list. - -- Mica PGP keys nestled at: http://blueness.port5.com/pgpkeys/ [Earth LOG: 508 day(s) since v3.0 unleashing] OSs: Windows 98 SE Micro Lite Professional IVa Enterprise Millennium Windows XP(ee) Micro Lite Professional 1.6, and, for TB sometimes, Gentoo and Vector Linuxes via Wine... ~~~ For personal mail please use my address as it is *exactly* given in my From|Reply To field(s). ~~~ -BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE- iQEVAwUBQ9NgGLSpHvHEUtv8AQPzKgf8DT5ScNpFJVLb2Btw1DYShgFKgkFTs31E St6VkZ+FxyTD2BdFBPLLdHLY4TMD357Hj9NxguA7g2tMe8DFZYe4KmtcRoBdevWG RGD8wYJl6TKFPSe3C7CWF30N7lroxyHAu4SogBOzOubYI62im6d6PJ8xm6amw+9H gnwB5arbmhWPuEliP2m4mxj9nfzo4scYsSIPkOSyBkKD8c55SFKnnvJmclugHlab 9tRAjFfj8MPhDyfUG+V12Q7B2q6f9H8ncgcT2vekRAleNa0lvwZGuCPCjr2hJP58 VQJ5/PFEj3QyMuI7BshjuwvhY8mZMWG1qT8RhpZ7qU2ZEIWBuu5Mgw== =iuVE -END PGP SIGNATURE- Current version is 3.65.03 | 'Using TBUDL' information: http://www.silverstones.com/thebat/TBUDLInfo.html

A QT inside a QT
I tried to make a QT that I'd put in my reply template. It was supposed to chose a sentence from a Cookie-Like text file AND include %OfromName inside the text line of the Called file .. a sample line might be: Recently, %OfromName steadfastly claimed: while another is %OFromName couldn't possibly have said : Yet, when I tried to use it, %OFromName appeared as typed not as intended. So, the Reply template had a line, something like: %Cookie=D:\Program Files\The Bat\replies.txt which then included lines like I just described. Would anyone please advise? Hmm... If you would reorganize your filters to accept only messages with your real name, you would get rid of all sorts of spam, literally (with no additional software/strategies). It though requires small change in routines, both yours and perhaps some of your (valid) correspondents (in instructing them to address their messages to you always including your real/full name). Then would be all so easy. You would in Selective Download filter under the tab Rule put rich gregory [EMAIL PROTECTED] and under the tab Advanced would check Action and None of strings should match and everything which is not addressed as above would be deleted from server. Works like charm/magic. I had big problems with loads of mail, people would simply get somewhere my address, even not knowing my real/full name, and then would just shoot up. In the same field you would then just add the usual Reply-To or similar headers corresponding to the lists/newsletters etc., you are subscribed to, and that would be it. - -- Mica PGP keys nestled at: http://blueness.port5.com/pgpkeys/ [Earth LOG: 509 day(s) since v3.0 unleashing] OSs: Windows 98 SE Micro Lite Professional IVa Enterprise Millennium Windows XP(ee) Micro Lite Professional 1.6, and, for TB sometimes, Gentoo and Vector Linuxes via Wine... ~~~ For personal mail please use my address as it is *exactly* given in my From|Reply To field(s). ~~~ -BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE- iQEVAwUBQ9QpuLSpHvHEUtv8AQMSTwf8CjQ31CkSUW8KFTL6VHjuEAVSclL2yjis 21Mw9z73Un0Zz9NbmSdNkXi/XuoD/aNaXn8dn4zzUVkNn0/r5XOr/oJjSxal3qU3 BY9Spm/QFmBL5wYuvXoIaL6Y4W7IkeRqyzr9fKZkRPv3ZH29IS7SaACdUWInuCDk SrFfDTG35Kj764meIAO4keX8GJ7AV0UvJaalTrGLL7XxZVNA+foq9Yr/Vk8+lR1V VyaK5LYOPLLGayLkfu2OB9W7CyirLTzhMBOt76FXYp9rY4ku50n+cfgzTVHkl10j MphXZMriF0mBkrYkfx/kTImXK1KE6bzY6FdNdsvLO6TJdZokyPGLyw== =OyyP -END PGP SIGNATURE- Current version is 3.65.03 | 'Using TBUDL' information: http://www.silverstones.com/thebat/TBUDLInfo.html
