BayesIt Plugin missing

2006-12-29 Thread Richard H. Stoddard

Greetings,

I've been using the latest release (3.95.6) for several days now, and
all of a sudden my BayesIt has gone missing. I can't swear it was
there when I installed the latest version, since I also use K-9, which
catches almost all spam. I tried the various download sites, but can't
find a useable download - all of the sites give me a page not found
error.

Two questions: Is this a problem with the latest release? And where
can I find the latest version so I can re-install it?

Yes, the installation of (3.95.6) seems to delete all files associated

Or ALT and up-arrow. Not sure whether it's ALT, TB! is quite
inconsistent, sometimes we need to press ALT, sometimes shift, ctrl or

My nickname standard is name + underscore + h or o [ or whatever suffix makes

so:

Fred_h = fred at home
Fred_o = fred in the office

Fred_g = his gmail a/c

saving attachments

Hi,

I've asked this question in tbbeta, didn't get an answer. Maybe someone here
knows anything about it?

I can't seem to find a way to save just selected attachments. The only options
I have are
Save all, Save all to and just Save (and then I'm prompted to save each
of the selected attachments).
In some prior versions the was an option called Save to which worked just
like Save all to but
for the selected attachments only. Why did it disappear? Does anyone know how
to get it back in the
recent versions?

JFYI: enhancements of the COOKIE macro

2006-12-29 Thread Maxim Masiutin
Hello Tbudl,

Since version 3.95 you are able to specify second parameter of the cookie macro
to specify the Charset of the file, e.g.

%COOKIE(C:\a\max.txt,Windows-1251)

this means that the file C:\a\max.txt contains characters in Windows-1251
encoding.

Alternatively, %COOKIE macro supports Unicode files. In this case, do not
specify any charset, just use Windows Notepad to save file in Unicode encoding,
i.e. make sure the first character of the file is FEFF character.

Probably not aborting it may well still be there as a ghost off-screen.

Two suggetions of a generic nature:

A) swap monitors back and disbale the ticker. Swap back again an re-enable?

B) uninstall and re-install TB

Neither may be possible or desirable but that's all I can suggest at the
minute.

TB has certain issues with monitors (changing resolution and dual monitors)
which I am trying to document enough to make a bug report.

Yes, I also had to changed screen resolutions and the last location of the
ticker was near the lower edge of the screen, so an off screen ghost seems
possible. Unfortunately, going back is not an option as the reason for the
change was that my old CRT died, so I have no way of dragging the ghost
into the present.

Is there some registry setting that I might be able to adjust to point the
ticker back into the real world?

Thanks. I guess I should read release notes more thoroughly. I don't
depend on BayesIt for the most part, since K9 has proved to be
remarkably accurate (99.6% typically, with only a false positive every
few months), but I've used BayesIt in tandem, hoping it would catch
the few that do slip through. So far, it hasn't, so maybe it's time to

Re: Lost ticker

2006-12-29 Thread Marten Gallagher
Is there some registry setting that I might be able to adjust to point the
ticker back into the real world?

That I can't answer - the only other thing I can suggest is Plan B in my
earlier email:

Disable Mail Ticker using the settings...

Folder Maintenance - all

Tools - Backup everything

Uninstall TB

Delete the folder called 'The Bat' in Program Files (if your's is defau,t
instal)

Re-install TB and enable ticker and restore etc etc.

But thus all seems a bit drastic and may not work if the settings for the
Mail Ticker are kept in the regsitry and an unintall doesn;t delete the
relvant keys.

So PLEASE I would recommend waiting for someone else with more knowledge
berfore doing any of the above - I'm not an expert - simply that when I
have had windows position problems before - in other applications - this
has often sorted it out but not always.

So what? It works very well. I only replaced it by AntiSpamSniper

The ticker is probably off the screen. If you are happy to edit the
registry, run regedit and go to
HKEY_Current_User\RIT\The Bat!\Ticker
There are 2 values in there Left and Top. Set both to 0 and the
ticker will be placed at the top left corner of your screen.

However you must do this with TB! closed, since it is only read at
start up, and TB! overwrites these values as it closes down.

Are you sure it is a false positive, ie. a legitimate message being
falsely classified as spam? I'm only asking because I'm using K9 for
years (at least it feels like that, I've been using it on my old

Synchronization of The Bat!

2006-12-29 Thread Gene
Hello fellow list members,

Hoping to tap into the brain trust, here:

Is it possible to sync two or more instances of The Bat!, if they are
not collocated? IOW, if both machines are set to automatically check
for mail and there is a passage of time in transit between the two
machines, can they really be accurately synchronized??

If this is not possible, and it seems that it is not, since the Help
File seems to suggest that it is a method of synchronizing two or
more still life images while the machines continue along their
real time life, is there a better way to do this?

The popular methods are using IMAP (leaving messages on the server),
POP (leaving messages on the server), or physically copying your
message files around.

If this is not possible, and it seems that it is not, since the Help

I'm not entirely sure what that sync is intended for, but it is
certainly not for syncing between two Bat programs (like you'd sync
offline messages in outlook). I had tried syncing The Bat and Voyager
with that toolset, but it just isn't for that. TB Support said they
were working on a better sync in the future.

The lost ticker has now returned. Thanks.

Definitely - I check the log daily, and once in awhile something gets

mid:[EMAIL PROTECTED], Roelof Otten wrote:

M Even if the mass mailing feature is used?

That's an odd question, you're asking something completely
 without any context. ;-)

Oops. I trimmed too much (-:

When you're addressing multiple addressees then the AB template
for the first addressee is used, therefore logic dictates that
the account associated with the first addressee is used for all
 addressees.

Got that bit.

Now you're asking me about TB's behaviour with a mass mailing.
When you're doing a mass mailing, you're using a QT for mass
mailing, therefore associations that are defined in AB templates
are ignored, just like the rest of those AB templates.

That didn't occur to me.

So your answer is 'No. When the mass mailing feature is used, TB
uses the account that has been focused in the account tree pane.
At least that is what I expect, it is possible that TB uses the
default account for mailto's when doing a mass mailing, but it's
 one of the two.

Presumably it would be prudent to specify.

If you really want to be able to decide what account to use in a
mass mailing then you need to store that info in an AB field.
Let's store the associated account in the Pager field on the
Business tab of the AB. In that case you use this macro in your
QT: %Account=%ABToBusPager='MFPA'%- This uses the account
stored in the business pager field and if there's nothing there
 it uses the MFPA account.

Excellent - exactly what I was trying to ask.

I hope this is the answer you were looking for, otherwise you
need to be somewhat more specific.

Thanks, Roelof.
