Nothing there - the only thing I have removed is the name and address
of the sender.

TF I don't know much about what the internal backup does with
TF attachments. Did the problem start after a restore?
MM I believe so, but in actual fact I've done at least two restores
MM this year, so I'm not sure when the damage was actually done. I've
MM just used Google Desktop Search and see (most belatedly, I'm
MM afraid) that the attachments were stored away in \Documents and
MM Settings...
TF How did it get there...
Maybe that's where XP, in its wisdom, locks up all stray documents.
I really do appreciate all your detective work, Thomas, but, at the
moment, I do not have time to dig any deeper. I usually go along with
the TB! default settings.
Henceforth, though, I shall make a point of storing external
attachments in message bodies - perhaps this was the default setting
in some previous version...
