Re: Security when upgrading

Hello, MFPA;

I believe you have to do a completely fresh install and tell it

sigh I hate to have to uninstall/reinstall all over again... but
if I have to. OTOH I do use passwords on both the admin and user
accounts now, so have at least one layer in place already.

It sounds that way but I'm sure I have seen people suggest on this
list to back up an encrypted message base, uninstall TB!, install TB!
a-fresh without opting to use OTFE, then restore from the backup to
get back to a non-encrypted messagebase. I cannot currently remember

It's nice to have a way of recovering a message base, but I'm
ambivalent about the security issue.

By the way, I only found your posting by accident because your from
address begins postmaster@ and (for the messages I receive) that
usually means it will be a delivery failure report, often for spam
that somebody sent spoofing one of my addresses. Maybe it would be
worth considering whether sending out from that address is causing
 others to miss some of your mail. Just a thought. (-;

This is a good point. I set it that way before I was as used to TB!,
or even e-mail I suppose. But again, it's a chore to do over.

Automatic backup that includes password protected account?

2009-09-19 Thread Susanne
Hi,

I recently had very helpful advice setting up an
Archive account for messages I'd like to keep,
but don't need constant access to.

What I noticed is that this account is not
included in the daily automatic backup, unless it
is open (I'm signed in) at the time of the backup,
even though it's set to backup all accounts.

Is this normal behavior, and if yes, how can I
include this account (new messages are added to it
pretty much daily).

Error: Could not export message

2009-09-19 Thread Jeanny House
Once again, I'm helping my friend with The Bat! on her new computer.
Her tech guy got it up and running, but she's having a problem sending
mail from one of her accounts.

She has a personal account with one provider and a work account with the
university's server. She has been using her personal account provider's
SMTP server to send mail for both accounts when using her home computer.
On her old computer, it worked fine that way. Now, with the new
installation of The Bat! (version 4.2.10.1, Windows Vista), she gets an
error message Could not export message whenever she tries to send mail
from her personal account. She has no trouble sending mail from her
work account through the exact same SMTP server.

This happens with all email from this account, regardless of whether or
not there's an attachment. She's not using IMAP.

Everything is correct in her Account Properties as far as I can tell.

I've reached the limit of my expertise here. Any suggestions?

Thanks,
Jeanny
