I get most of my TNEF email's from a subscription service. They also place the

The bat will show that and not show the attachment. You can see this because

I cant find a way to display the winmail.dat section in TB.

I was pleased to see the inclusion of TNEF support for those nasty winmail.dat

I just installed 4.0.11 and sailed to a folder full of these attachments only
to find I still cant do anything with them in TB.
As ussual the help file or the website don't provide a clue on how to
use/activate.

Anyone here that figured it out?

Hi Paul,

Apart from the virus scanner that others have notices you should also
check the Purge and Compress function of TB.

TB needs you to do maintenance on the databases. Mainly purge and compress.
You might not have noticed that and if so go to folder/Maintenance and do
it for the complete system.
After that you can setup a scheduled maintenance event in the scheduler
function.

Also set the property of all your inboxes to purge and compress on exit
because all you email are placed in your inbox and then filtered on

View mode has changed grrrr..

2005-05-31 Thread Gerard
Hi Bat Users,

I get about 100 times a day a alert box that tells me the view mode has
changed and do I want to keep it.

I never do, but I can not find a default setting for this.
Does anyone know how to get this alert box out of my face?

There could be a number of problems. You could be trying to send from an

Cut program can not find The Bat!

2005-04-26 Thread Gerard
Hi Bat Users,

I have been using Cut for a few years and it very useful.

You can find it here: http://www.guenther-eisele.de/cut/index.htm

I am now trying to install it on my laptop and I copied the setting from
my Desktop.

Strangely enough CUT.exe has a problem handing the modified email back to
The Bat!. I get a small error window with Cut version 0.3beta Error: The
Bat! not found!

Cut did process the file because I ran the program with debug=1 and the
file in Notepad is what I expected. I tried to change the %s parameter in
the ini file to a pad but that did not help. It is not easy to do without
documentation.

Can yousomeone help CUT find The Bat! ?

Thanks.

Hi Roelof,

Well yes it is missing, both in the working and the non working version,
which means it is not the problem :(
I had a look at all TB! keys but none points to a location, as far as I
can see.

It has me baffled. The Bat! is right under Program Files and Cut is in its
own folder right under TB!.

I even tried putting them all in the same dir, although in the working
version they are both in different folders as well, but no luck their
either.

Cut must get info from somewhere. I looked at the environment variables but
could not find anything related to TB! different there either.

TB! does not load pictures (or anything else for that matter) which are

The worlds smallest email?

2005-01-27 Thread Gerard
Hi Bat Users,

Recently I have seen a surge in spam entering my mailbox. Also someone was
friendly enough to send me a virus. I hate to be left out ;-)

There is however a kind of email that I receive that I can not really put a name
on.

The whole e-mail, when you press F9 (view msg source) has only one header,
Return-Path: and that is empty.

The whole e-mail has a size of 17 bytes as reported by TB!

Are these mails just a way of finding out if a certain e-mail address is valid?
And how do you send such an e-mail?

I would like to let the ISP know, but I have no idea which account it was send
to because it ends uo in my common spam folder :(

TF Some mail servers will add a header anyway. GMX does this:

Delivered-To: GMX delivery to [EMAIL PROTECTED]

TF That's what I need (never mind the actual name of the header). Merak
TF doesn't do this. So I am looking for a workaround.

TF Hamster, like XRay, is good at downloading from different servers and
TF then applying filter actions. However, it will not add a header saying
TF which email address it downloaded it from, very much like XRay.

So you do download different accounts from the server. Must that not be
different
email address then to? If each account is a different email address that must be
in the header then, Ergo XRAY can filter on that.

This is the bit a still do not understand apparently :(

TF Can Merak really not add a header before delivering the mail to the
TF different mailboxes? If so, I might have to convince the sysad to use
TF another server. Any suggestions?

No, I am strictly client side :-)

TF My preference would be for TB to be able to add that header when
TF importing messages, but I think that's out of the question. :-(

Absolutely, but TB! is very religious in not changing anything in the mail it
received. That incudes the subject that a lot of people would like to be able
to edit.

As far as I know Xray does not have a server dependent function, In other words

What you must try to do is find something in the headers that is unique to each

It depends. If you want to add this header on the basis of the e-mail address it

If you want to filter something in TB! and then add the header Xray can only do
this when you send the mail out. As a result you can not use the new header to
filter on.

Here is a trick I use.
On the basis of the results of he filtering action of TB! I add a %comment:
header with a value.

On sending the email I can make the actions of Xray dependent of the value I
give the comment header and even have Xray remove this header when done :-)

All you need to reinstall TB! is a backup made with TB! and the mail with your

You simply reinstall TB and import the backup, point it to your registration

It depends on how much of the original msg must be persevered but you could use
redirect also know as alternate forward.
It will send the msg to an other email account of yours (does not have to be a
real account as long as you use local delivery) but before you press the send
button you can eddit the subject (or anything else for that matter)

Even better would be to use forward with a specific custom template. This way
